There’s an old joke amongst the shooting sports world. “Learn to reload and you’ll save lots of money” LOL. Cutting firewood is a cheaper hobby but any savings depend on how one goes about it. I figure I save 2-2.5 thousand a year not burning oil. Being a bit compulsive with my “hobbies” it will take years to pay off what I’ve spent to do it. If I had kept it a chore, not spent money I’d be way ahead but I also probably wouldn’t be doing it anymore. I can always figure the money spent over the years that I was doing it the simple way with no equipment per se. I’m good with I tho. It’s a hobby and cheaper than my last hobby. Even get a few bucks in the fall to stuff in my wallet.
That's pretty much what my brother said about their old CB boiler too (same model I think) they switched to a gasser and he says now he couldn't stuff a wheelbarrow/day through that thing if he left all the windows open! But most of the time it is still oversized (gassers do best being run hard) The only down side is less saw time though...well, that and the bill for buying a new OWB these days! Sell to the Nashville market...it'll burst!
And just like that in the blink of an eye I have a new business model In my town there’s a wrecking yard that is expanding tenfold. They got in the business of buses. Mostly greyhound style buses from NY. They charge to junk them for the cities. These are running buses. They’re driven up here and parts are removed for resale to the same people who just paid to get rid of it. Anything they don’t want is chipped and sold for scrap metal. There’s a lot of aluminum in a bus. Not to mention tion diesel fuel,,,,,,,same guy just bought a heating oil delivery business in town,,,,,there’s speculation that’s where all the fuel from these buses is going Anyhow I could get one of these buses dirt cheap. Stack it full of firewood. Let’s say 10 cord fits inside. Drive to Tennessee and sell the load for $8000. Wanna be a partner? How fond of stacking firewood are you?
