Found a couple splits stuck together, it took some effort to separate them. This fungus appearing stuff was sticking them together. I’m now waiting for the “Don’t burn it I’ll take it off your hands comments ”
Google Lens suggested Wax Worm cocoons. And brought up pics on firewood that looked like that. They mention them attacking bees nests and are a pest to bee keepers. I did have a big inground yellow jacket nest this summer.
I’d burn it before some intergalactic alien emerges. No sense taking chances with the entire galaxy at stake.

Ive run into those under shingles when I've torn off roofs. Some serious bonding power. Cant say I've ever seen them in my firewood.
