In honor of National Hot Sauce Day on Jan. 22, the folks at Instacart analyzed purchase data from the online grocery platform to reveal Americans’ hot sauce preferences. When it comes to the U.S. as a whole, the five most-purchased hot sauce brands were Frank’s RedHot, Huy Fong Foods (makers of the beloved Sriracha), Taco Bell, Cholula and Texas Pete.
I can't possibly narrow my choices down to one For mainstream, available anywhere sauces Tabasco will always be my old standby. I buy a lot of oddball sauces online but I'm partial to this one, which my local grocery store usually has.
For a Mexican hot sauce, Valentina extra hot is my favorite. I also love original cholula and the green cholula Marie sharps habanero hot sauce for a general hot sauce. I love sriracha also I’m definitely into the hot honey trend, love almost everything hot honey For wings, or chicken in general, I love Caribbean jerk sauce, the G Hughes brand Big fan of buffalo sauce as well, Primal Kitchen takes that category
I love it all! Right now I have a Torchbearer Garlic Reaper, Tabasco Scorpion, Trader Joe’s Jalepeno, Old Bay, Melinda’s habanero honey mustard, and some off brand something open. In the cabinet I have Zab’s, Espinaler, a couple “Christmas generics” and a Trader Joe’s Habanero waiting for me. I find I go through phases of eat it for weeks at a time and then take a few weeks off and repeat. Also have all kinds of hot pepper salts and powders.
Tabasco was the mainstay for me for years after getting so accustomed to it in MREs. Would always get a large bottle, wrap the heck out of it with electrical tape (to prevent breakage), and stuff it in my pack when going to the field or on deployments. That stuff can make almost anything palatable. After being stationed for many years in and around North Carolina I developed a taste for Texas Pete, and that is now what I always have on hand.
Excellent stuff. Quite mild for ghost but let's you know it's there. I have the 16oz jug right now. lol
I find that Yucateca sauces have great flavor. My preference is the green. Not a lot of heat so often combined with Melinda's. They sell 300pc tear-pack cases of it and I buy them. Lunch sauces. Lola's is slightly bitter to me. Not tried the Sharp's habenero yet.
We always have Franks and Rooster sauce in the fridges. I’ll pick up those small $1 bottles from time to time. I had to dial back because I was buying a lot of regular sized bottles and growing quite a collection! HA!
I forgot I also have a bottle of Dave's Insanity sauce. Best served with a toothpick. Just a speck on cheese and a cracker will wake your mouth up.
