Should be pretty easy although I'll probably pull everything apart and do some pm. Parts came in last week but I was waiting on the new blower to come in before I went. Kinda surprised that the new blower is taking so long to come in.
What new blower did you buy? There were none on hand? Good news is that there hasn't been much snow. Later this week maybe though.
My great uncle had one that looked like that in the early it's. No one talked about snow mobiles, just Skidoos, one word rolled together. It was the coolest thing going, when I was 7 or so!
I ordered an Ariens professional 28". Although I did tell them to don't worry about it unless snow is expected. They had it reserved at the warehouse. Only the quick moving models are stocked.
We live in the country and get a lot of wind. Sometimes my 28” Ariens would ride up on hard drifted snow. Not always but sometimes. My Ariens dealer had a 10# weight that attached to pre drilled holes already in the housing. I balked at the price ($72) then picked up 2 old double hung cast iron window weights for free that weigh 5.5# each. One trip to ACE spent $4 on some cheap conduit clamps. Painted the old weights and wrapped them in some Super 33 and they work great. Kinda proud I didn’t give the dealer 72 bucks for a piece of orange metal,,,
I did pretty much the same thing with a chunk of road plate that was kicking around. Cut it down and drilled some holes and bolted it up.
What impeller did you go with? Picked up this little SS322 for $25 but didn't realize OEM parts ($75) were that expensive and did not want to chance aftermarket. I also have a 522 and this thread got me thinking that I will put the new one on it and move it over to see if that helps as the chute keeps clogging on it. I also love the little 522.
I’ve had good luck with older Snappers. They’re build really well and are gear driven. They utilize the tried and true Tecumseh engines. I actually had very good luck with an Amazon carb on one of them. Runs really good with a lot less surging. I rehabbed an 826 using Tecumseh 9hp engine. There’s a thread on it here somewhere.
Got mine from Amazon so hope they are OEM. Temped to get a set of aftermarket for $45 and see how they work. I don't even bother to choke my 522 as it starts so easy.
I cannot in any way complain about the life I got from the original set. I'm surprised they lasted this long.
I’ve done the same with pieces of firewood. You can also screw small hooks into them to use individually.
Finally got the new paddles on my SS522, you can compare how much they are worn they were. Put those on the new to me 322 for now but am taking a chance getting some aftermarket paddles for it, $35 savings. Fingers crossed they aren't complete garbage.
