I cut up and hauled a trailer of ash with a couple of filler pieces of pine that were blocking the trail. Probably a half cord, maybe a little more. I'll get a full trailer load tomorrow at my other buddy's and he'll be helping as well. Possibly his teenage son will be helping too. Tomorrow should go a lot quicker than today. 2-3 x the manpower and a bobcat toolcat to help. Today was just me and my Polaris ATV and a yard cart at my other buddy's house. You can see the carport we are building in back. We'll work on that again right after the new year.
That looks like good weather for firewooding. No mud, the rounds split easier. Not so much for building the car port! I built one like that behind the barn and will be building another for the tractors soon. My fingers lose their dexterity in the cold. Nice load of firewood in that trailer!
I think it was 15°. The sportsman 500 was tough to pull start, but that pull start is one reason we bought that unit. Yes, I got another load of firewood today from my other buddy's, and while I was doing that, my buddy and a friend put up 8 more roof sheets. We're taking tomorrow off, but we'll hit it Friday again. Maybe the boat will be in the shed then?
For next year's heating 26-27 season. I'm all set for this year. I'm not as far ahead as I want to be, but I'm at least ahead. yeah, the mud froze up. Which helps. Grabbing self drilling roofing screws sucks with gloves on. But even at the 37-38° temps we were out building the carport before you still had to have gloves on. Even thin ones that you lose some dexterity with. The colder temps definitely slow down work, but at least there's no mosquitoes. They were bad this year at my friend's house. Today's load, a little bigger. The trailer can handle it. I unloaded this trailer load and it's all piled ready to be split along with yesterday's.
Yeah, we got 4-6 inches on ground; not enough to make life hard just enough to see well at night. I also got 3 cord of ash stacked for next year
Your carport project is a hing to be empathized. Been helping assemble a metal storage shed, purchased from Lowe’s . It was n a box and had hundreds of little screws washers and other fasteners. we spent four full work days on that nightmare, hav8ng to do things over, fighting wind. It is better off to buy an assmbled one.
It's not so bad. This is a versatube brand carport, so a much more reputable brand than pretty much any other brand.
Very Nice Haul!! That's another wood I don't see much of. Don't think I've ever burn't it either... I think you have a bit more than you think!
I hope there's more than I think. There's so much ash down in my buddy with the bobcat's woods. There's no way to get it all unless I were to quit my job and cut and haul for a regular job. I'd need more equipment than I have too, to do that. I'll get what I can though.
It's all work, so this is about the carport for now. From the other day... And then Friday's work. We're waiting on doing the bottom pieces until we get the proper cutting tool. Should be next weekend. Wednesday after work, the boat is going in on the left side.
