That sounds like a mess. We got maybe 3" (total guess) along with 30+ mile an hour winds. There's some decent drifts out there but nothing over 2ft on my way home from work.

Good question. They were supposed to get hammered with snow. Not sure where he is in the UP but parts were supposed to get 2ft or more.

I got home at 2:35 am yesterday morning. Roads were icy and i thought I was going to get a hotel and drive home after light, since I don't see well at night and rain/ice falling makes it much worse. So, when possible, my preference is to only drive at night on well known roads, in dry conditions.

Well, I missed the sign to get to a road that I knew some hotels were on and next thing you know the GPS has me on the highway in an area I am unfamiliar with. There isn't another exit for probably 5 miles into an area I AM familiar with (and at that point, I know the next 30 miles pretty well). Took about 1.5 hours for me to get home. fortunately, I only saw a couple of other vehicles that whole time, so didn't really have to worry about someone else screwing me up.

I think it actually turned out well since I heard reports of the conditions being even worse later in the morning. They just couldn't keep up with the ice. Most places were shut down anyway as they had asked people to stay home unless absolutely necessary to be out. They were still showing school and business closures on last night's news. I guess at least 30k people lost power too - saw pictures on local FB page about a few roads being closed with downed trees into wires.

I've always tried to picture your driveway after an ice storm or after a big melt followed by a freeze-up.

Thanks. It needed to come out. (Abscess down through the root.) First problem I’ve had with a tooth since about 36 years ago when I had a couple wisdom teeth pulled. It took a couple rounds of local numbing and then it was out, fairly quickly and stitched up. I then paid for it, complimented them on the quality music they had, and out the door I went. Now I just have to take it easy for a while and hope it heals up fast. Fingers crossed.

Glad you got home safe. Snow and ice at night makes for stressful driving.

My wife is having horrible tooth pains right now. She might be in on the emergency tooth root canal fun. The tylenol with codeine she has is keeping her sane tonight.
