I have half a dozen or so axes as well. I like to take them all out together and cut with each one and keep them all super sharp. I enjoy burning firewood that I cut with my axe only. Unfortunately I don’t have the time to do that for my entire wood stash.
I think I have 2 axes and 1 maul. Fiskars x27 gets majority of the work. The other ax is an old fireman’s ax that lingers for some reason. The maul is a Fiskars and could be replaced. The handle has some… scars…
I did swing my maul a little today, straight grain sugar maple. I still think a maul can be quicker & more efficient than a motorized log splitter. Another easy wood is red oak, very easy with a maul, straight grain. I do appreciate the exercise aspect, at least up to a certain level.
