Well, I'm gonna break out the splitter in a couple days and start the splitting. Thanks for all the heads up, I will put several pieces aside for smoking . I looked at that tree for 25 years+. It never produced the (Mulberry) but it did have a type of seed/berry I'm guessing which made me think Hackberry. Either way, It's "Firewood" now! :p;)

Oh boy, Dave just hit the jackpot!!! Dave, be sure to save all that stringy stuff that climbed all over that tree. It makes good kindling and sometimes makes you feel really good too.

I got it all, but the small limbs. Those tree guys were all "A$$holes and elbows" bringing this tree down. they were feeding the chipper the limbs continuously. They even threw some limbs in there, (I) would have kept and cut up/burn't. They started about 9am and had the stump ground and tree gone by 1pm. o_O The guy who was climbing would have given Scotty a run for his money, but Scotty is a strapping big guy, where this guy was the size of a "spider Monkey".  They were wedged between a few houses and my new building, (the blue roof) was 20ft away.

I don't think I've ever had a Mulberry. Many of Hackberry trees, Got schooled on them early on, they grow like weeds around here and where my gun club is, (where I cut a lot) it's low wet areas and they grow crazy there. I don't ever remember having that Yellowish/green wood color in any of my piles. I started helping my O'l man with firewood since about 1970 and I've been doing my own wood cutting since about 1980. I just don't/didn't see this tree anywhere, (but then again) I may not have noticed...

Here is the total amount, I'm guessing it'll be close to a cord. I can't believe how HEAVY this $#!T is! I'm not exactly a weak person, "Fat yes" :picard: but not weak, I can barely move some of the stump stuff. I can see some Noodling will be going on...

Yes it has a lot of water content when cut green. Most I encounter around here are on the small to medium size and typical of the one they cut down...growing on property lines.

Ive only cut big mulberry once.
    Road Trip for MONSTER Mulberry

One growing on the edge of our woods has put out the berries, but not every year. Small tree.

Mulberry around here is bright yellow heartwood with white sapwood that starts to turn reddish brown within days.

My late mother watched it since Alex Trebech became the host in the 1980's so Ive been watching it for decades. I used to tease her about that too.

I have a very small amount of mulberry stacked. I got the logs from my brother in law. He never saw mulberry cut and the yellow wood. He thought it would burn bad and stink. I kept my mouth :zip:.

Good thing it's not spring/ summer when the tree would be leafed out, it would weigh even more probably. That's a nice load of wood and since it apparently dries quickly, that will help. How long are you planning to be in NJ before booking it to NH?

I'm not 100% sure now! I'm not going to get political but the law makers just "DOUBLED" my assessed value of my land and "DOUBLED" my taxes!!! I may not go now, It'll be more there with a house on it than I'm paying here. The only advantage is the property size up there and the peace. I just don't feel like paying $12K a year in taxes up there! o_O:headbang:

What the heck is going on in New Hampshire, extreme gentrification? The whole state is now greater Boston?
$1,000 a month in Connecticut will get you a stained, tattered cot in a homeless shelter, so there's that
    Serious bummer Dave.

When I was teaching at the USCG Academy in New London, My landlord had about 9 acres in Groton, where I rented her trailer. She had a small Dog kennel business and her home on there as well, This was 2008-2012. She had told me she was paying over 14K THEN for property taxes in Connecticut, :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:That wasn't even her business tax, :emptywallet::emptywallet::emptywallet:Connecticut hit her with. When Her and her Husband finally retired, they sold and went to Maine, He was a retired Connecticut State police officer.
