Not judging, but a guy just rolled in with a pristine F350 dooly. He asks what can I get for 10-20 bucks for our Mallard Lakes Xmas party.
I pull big jock up to my poplar pile and stack a row in his covered unused bed. Couldn’t help but notice the fancy unused hitch on his pretty boy city rig powerstoke. Trying to be as serious as I can I say “nice rig” He says thanks it’s a 17 with 100k, I say “wow it’s pristine and looks brand new “ The kicker is after I fill a row in his garage queen he asks if that’s $20 worth as if he’s questioning the value of my labour and product. You just wait until that Mallard Lakes Xmas fire is over in 20 minutes

He didn’t even help me load the Poplar. :emb:

Customer on 12/22, "Hey I'd like a cord of wood before Christmas." What I respond with, "This is side work for me, I have a half day Tuesday and am off Wednesday. No promises, but I will try to make it happen." How I want to respond, "I've been delivering wood since August. Your lack of planning is not my emergency. See you next weekend." That mentality wouldn't bring home the benjamin's though.

If you remember from the first chapter in the manual of the Elite Nashville Firewood Dealer, you have to be able to respond in the drop of a dime. 12hrs of hard labor, quick response, drive all day, 2 wheelbarrows of wood across an irrigated and manicured lawn, drive again, perfect pull-ups, liquor drinking, rinse and repeat.

Thinking of Christmas, this thread now reminds me of the line from the movie "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and the jelly of the month club scene where Uncle Eddie says "It's the gift that keeps on giving the whole year."

My guess is that you will get the wood delivered and thereby set the expectation for next time with the new customer...
