@Razo will have to take some more pics when I get home. Also you can search for old blaze king add baffle In the search engine. Or check my three year plan or why my wife says you guys are a bad influence. On of these days I will figure out how to add links. @Grizzly Adam little help on that please I am compooter illiterate.

I made the above statement, but I have found that in one summer I can season any type of wood in a solar kiln, being space limited it allows me to be 1-1.5 years ahead without taking up the whole yard.

Here's some pics of the baffle I installed in mine. 20141001_051005.jpg I basically just put a 8" wide piece of steel on the tubes it rest against the thimble leaving some air space behind. It should hold the heat much better. Yes I know I'm missing a firebrick.:emb: 20141001_050957.jpg

Nice! Thanks for the pics, that looks very do-able. So the thought is that it creates a little bit of a barrier between the fire and the flue so that more heat is kept in the firebox as opposed to going up the flue?

Yes just holds the heat in and burns off some of the gases a little. I went through about 8 cord last year and probably 7 the year before. Not ideal wood those first 2 years though so hopefully between the baffle and better wood it should be less. What part of Pa. you in?

Gotcha. I'm from York county. If you decide to try the mod I can probably get you a piece of steel if you need it.

wow jet, jetjr, I really appreciate that! Seems everyone on here is always so helpful. I should be able to handle the steel, I have a small shop where I work on my vehicles and occasionally fab bumpers and axle truss's out of steel so I have enough of it laying around I should be able to come up with something. Since I never even burned this stove before, I think I'll try one season without it, or at least a month or two. Think it will make a noticeable difference? I'm anxious for your reports on that.

No actually it's 3/4" plate. Their were cleaning up the mechanic shop at work. This will be my 3rd year with my stove. First year real wet wood 2nd little better this year pretty decent. I still don't think we have run the electric heat more than 40 hours the whole winter.
