Boy, those temps dropped fast. -15 here and the stove is burning good. Lots of oak in the stash. We brought in two cart loads and I filled a large pallet tote and put it on the deck so we don’t have to far for wood. Should be more than enough to get through this cold snap. supposed to be -35 wind chill for a few days.
31/71 just put in some cherry, ash and maple. Snow and falling temps on the way. I will be mixing some shaggy in later.
-12 Wind chill -34. Blowing and snowing. Probably wait until tomorrow to move the snow around. Lab mix was very quick about doing his business when he was let out earlier! The Bernese Mountain Dog just laid down in the snow and enjoyed it!!!
-3 this morning and going for a high of 3 today. -13 is the forecast for tomorrow. Warming up above freezing by the middle of next week. I am having to burn some fuel oil overnight when it gets cold so I can keep the garage and the other half of the basement from freezing.
3° out now feels like -15° I'll be in the woods seeing if I can fill a doe tag this afternoon. It's a state wide antlerless hunt this weekend. I have a pop up ground blind and a mr heater on a 20 lb propane tank. I'm bringing a piece of roll up foam to put my feet on so I can hopefully stay warm. We'll see how long I last before I say f it and wait for the antlerless hunt between Christmas and New Year's.
33/70 ash and sycamore. First time burning sycamore for me (it was cut in April 2024) It’s not half bad
It’s cold enough right now that I am happy enough just watching for any sign on life from the window. I saw a couple of rabbits bouncing around at first light today.
11 and just about done snowing. We got close to 6" today. Down to -6 tonight. I put a bunch of wood in the boiler. Should be good for 24 hours.
13 now and dropping to 2 by sunrise. My mix of splits and cutoffs are working well together. I plan to load it full so 8 dont gave to bother with it first thing in the morning. Noticing the ash content isnt bad either . I love making the house warm an$ cozy on cold nights. CONGRATS TO FERNANDO MENDOZA- BRINGING THE HEISMAN TROPHY HOME TO BLOOMINGTON!
The afternoon as I planned. I only stayed because I was prepared enough. I was cold when it was the end of hunting hours though. I couldn't really run the Mr heater. It was too windy and the pop up blind would have hit the tent material. Deer did move, but in the opposite field. Out of my sight. Not going out tomorrow. I'll wait for the Holiday Hunt between Christmas and New Year's. It certainly can't be as cold then. It's stopped to hit 40° next week. 0° out feels like -17° Ash, honey locust, and crabapple in the quadrafire. 77° in the stove room
