It is SOOOOO MUCH nicer in t Yup. Burning white and black spruce for day time and Birch for the overnight load . It is so much nicer having the arctic entry (Alaskan word for enclosed porch) . I installed a 3x4 slider on one side and the windowed door on the other side. Once I get the ceiling/roof and floor insulated . It will be way better yet . The walls are sheathed with 2 1/2" thick , insulated metal panels which have a minimum R value of R15. I'm not aiming to make it a fully heated room.
I knew I wasn’t the only guy to use the trigger gun for outdoor temps. I have read -50 a few times here in WI.
Temp dropping toward -15 for the rest of the week. Burning oak and a mix of elm, locust, and a few other hardwoods.
-3 F and 70 in the house. Quaking aspen and lodgepole are in the furnace. We also have a winter storm warning for 6-12 inches of snow. There was a similar warning less than a week ago and we didn't get any snow, so we'll see what happens.
9° out/ 70° in at wake up time. Burning crabapple and Norway maple on crabapple and Honey locust coals from last night.
After seeing some of the posted temps Im not going to complain about 25*. Oak in stove. Calling for some snow tomorrow night and cold temps sunday/monday
25 here too. 68 in. Daughter had the house 78 when I got home from work yesterday so I let the fire go out. Just lit up with oak.
23/70 various chunk wood, ash and tulip poplar. Honey locust staged up for the reload later this morning.
30 with a fresh coat of wet snow. This weekend is looking very wintry. Boiler was still fairly full...I'll load it this evening.
