Having access to an orchard for the next 2-3 months i'm considering cutting a lot more than I have and offering it up to some of my regulars. I have smoker wood customers, but don't need much to satisfy their needs.
How much of a premium over "standard" cordage wood you think FHC?

I would factor in the premium wood and the extra work involved to process. Maybe 20% more?

Between the two loads I cut so far I got around 3/4 cord including nuggets. Maybe five hours at the cut plus splitting and handling the extra pieces.

A full half cord plus leaping load in the truck averages 2.5 hours but yields more wood.

I have a far out of town casual burner customer (indoor and outdoor fireplaces) that I'll offer it up to. Worst thing they could say is no.

Compared to BL or SBH, I’m trying to see how a regular would want to pay more for their heat. Fireplace burners or smokers, yes. Other than those, Apple doesn’t offer anything crazy special.

Brad I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Apple in coal stage burns blue/green flames. That is definitely worth more if you advertise it correctly.

hint Valentine’s Day glass front stove/fireplace OR

Your so special you are changing my life just like these flames will change colors

I think you nailed it. Marketing is the key. If you get the timing right, write the ad so that the reader/potential buyer starts visualizing things and gets it into their head that this will usher in a good solid 6-7 minutes of utopia, add in a few buzz words like sustainably harvested, locally grown, aromatic, etc. someone will buy it.

I offered it up to one of my casual burners today. Husband seemed all for it at the higher price, but wife came home and was unsure and will let me know. They are one of the few customers that give a nice tip everytime.

Debating on whether to go B2TW and put up another 2-3 cords and sell as another "exotic" a year from now.

Surprised our hero hasn't chimed in with his two Benjamins opinion.

Have you gone and cut any yet? I drove by last week to scout and too much snow for my liking. I don't wanna get stuck. If it was more level I'd go for it. Hopefully it melts in the next few days as I'm jonesing to go back.

I drove through there yesterday; the road that that goes by the cut down trees. Looks like a decent amount left! I really need to get over there. Finding the time has been a challenge as of late with work and skiing.
