That site had a lot of useful info and it was a very well known site when corn prices were down.

I hope they do well. May have to make a visit over there. So you have to re-register? Or are the old usernames/passwords still the same?

I used to pop in and read stuff over there before it disappeared, even though I never registered, and I've never burned corn.

Good to see it back. Hope the old content shows back up too.

I did all the reregistration and then was asked to write a couple sentences proving I was a person and not a machine so I did that but never got a e-mail back like I was supposed to. Not sure if JA is up on his stuff or not.
You've got some corn guys already or maybe I should say multifuel folks who switch depending on prices and locality.

Probably outlived my usefulness as well. lol Anybody running Bixbys out there?
Truthfully I prefer burning a corn pellet mix as it seems to enhance the good points of each fuel.

Couple of folks new the US Stoves very well. Few had even made heat exchangers for the multifuelers. Great site.

What mix do you use? I burned straight corn in the 10 CPM, and was underwhelmed. Gonna try a mix this year, starting at 50/50 probably. Gonna try straight corn in the St Croix SCF 050.

One of the big advantages of mixing some pellets with the corn is the clinker will be softer so it is easier to shear off and drop then with 100% corn. I think you could make things work with 25% pellets and 75% corn but you will have to experiment. Your St Croix is the square furnace about 50,000 btu . The design is such that it actually burns corn better then pellets except when it comes to the part where you have to drop and shear off the clinker. At that point with straight corn you might have problems cutting the clinker. If you find that true then adding pellets will help keep the clinker softer

No Bixby, but I'll be burning lots of corn again this year. I just got a 165bu gravity wagon and will be loading up after harvest. Corn below $3 makes me smile with every clinker I dump!!

Tell me what it does and I can tell you how to fix it. Normally your problem is that it starts and runs good at the startup stage then the flame drops off to a idle. Often this is caused by a bad connection on your circuit board. Remove the left panel where the board is located and you will see a brown stiff wire with a flag on it. This has a white plastic connector that has a habit of not locking in place and often after moving the stove or reaching in the back you can dislodge it by simply touching the wire. Now if it is loose it can be connected to both the small board and the large one but it belongs on the large board top right hand corner called J-18. You can bend the stiff brown wire so it puts pressure onto the connection and it should work. If that doesn't work then it is possible that somebody removed a thermostate wire and didn't install a jumper. Look at where the thermostat wires go there should be a jumper connecting the two middle screws. When you buy a used stove cheap you really don't know what the other people did so we start with the simple things. I bought one for 250.00 once that ended up needing a jumper wire like I described to you then I upgraded the software and it ran perfect. Look at the thermostat wire connection first as it is logical the previous owner disconnected the thermostat to move the stove and never reconnected a jumper wire so it could run manually.

No Bixby here either. I was checking them out when I was in the market for a multifueler. The UBB was hard to find and not many dealers in my area either. So I decided on my Enviro Omega instead. Which does and has burned straight corn. I too liked a mix of pellets/corn. 60/40 worked best for me.

Corn was never cheap in my area, But it was an option if I couldn't find wood pellets.

Back when I first started burning corn I had a Harman PC45 that I got from a local dealer who sold Harman and St Croix. I became good friends with him and his wife and helped him with installs and doing service work the last two years he was alive. When he passed I offered to help sell 26 stoves he had left and sold pc45s to people from SD ,Il, Wisc, Iowa and Minn. Stoves had dropped in value as corn had gone up and Nat Gas dropped so I advertised in Craigs list and corn-pellet forums at a low price. Prior to that I had found the 45 a little to small for our home and bought one of the first AEs selling the 45 when corn got cheap. The AE went through a teething period that first year and in the end the dealer told me I should only burn pellets. About that time I had looked at Bixbys but found the price to high then a friend told me to look on E-Bay as somebody was selling them very reasonable. I bought one expecting junk and after figuring how it worked I bought another one for parts. Keeping in mind no warranty and no dealer support if you bought from E-Bay was the story back then. So basically I educated myself along with a few other people who did the same thing. I made a cable that you can connect to the control board and my computer and upgrade the software which makes it run much better then the original models. I sold over 100 of these cables to owners and a few dealers so they could upgrade to the newer software.
The Bixby is still one of the better stoves even though it hasn't been produced since 2007. It did have a ignitor problem but a software update pretty much solved that and the only other problem I seen were some dry bearings in some convection fans. Its to bad the owner and 3 employees were so crooked and greedy. Hopefully they get old in prison and are unable to spend the money they have hid. Speaking of the UBB I have had two and resold one. I have one in my basement for the -20 degree weather. In my experience they should have tested it some more as it has a tendency to get to hot. At one time I knew 6 people that owned them and two people had trouble but 4 got along with them.
I just got some boxes of parts for St Croix and Harman from my friends widow last week so will be selling those for her.
