Just discovered how to post shorts here as vids and not just links:

Go to the "short" vid, and click on comments:

In the comments, pick one and click on the time the comment was made (this one is 1 year go). If there aren't any comments, make one yourself like I did on this one.

After you click that, a new window will open up and the "short" will be shown like a regular Youtube video. Then press the share button as you would for a regular length video. Copy the link and paste in like you would a non-short.



That should make your short appear in the thread instead of a hotlink.



Sorry I switched vids, my phone wouldn't do what I wanted, so the mobile version might not be able to do all this.

 

Might very well be my new go to saw.

 

I saw a Driller 350 after I did mine, and I swore it was my saw, because the porting was identical, right down to the trapped air bubble in the jb weld in the lower transfers. They run real good. Mine has developed an air leak and I need to locate it and fix it so I can run it more.

I have been running my 372xp oe for the last year, and it’s awesome. It’s not ported yet, but it runs almost well enough to say it doesn’t need porting, which is crazy. It’s a lot heavier than the 350, so my arms get tired when cutting smaller stuff.

 

Does your 350 have the 346 top end? Mike degree wheeled and marked the cylinder on my 2150, then I did the rest of the work. That saw runs excellent but the 346 parts out perform it for sure. I have yet to advance timing on the 2150 too, so there’s a little more on the table.
And I agree on the weight. That’s why I love this 350 platform. As you probably already know the screws that hold down the riser base are a known spot to cause air leaks.

 

I think kine is a 353 top end. It has the removable transfer covers, so porting is a breeze. I also used a flat top piston. This was before I got my lathe, so compression is only about 180.

 

Pretty close… but you’d think with modern technology the 500i would’ve pulled ahead. Probably have to port it first No doubt the Stihl has better AV, so there’s that.

 

Seems crazy the 281 came out in 1986 and modern tech can’t whoop its butt. Surprised me.

 

Likely wouldn’t be so surprising if people didn’t praise it like the holy Grail. I’ve said since the first day I ran one that they weren’t a fast saw but had good torque with longer bars. And they run like any other 79 cc saw. People in the Facebook groups talk about how crazy fast they are with a 20 lol. The original 462 would smoke one with a 24

 

The only 500i that impressed me was ported by Scott Kunz. It was a respectable saw with a good square ground chain.
