Just went out and got in a round of disc golf before our weather turns to crap. Gotta fix the light above the garage door and set up some outside decorations for Kathy. Had a great weekend and the wife even surprised me with a birthday dinner with some of my.friends and family there last night.

Probably about 9-10" of snow back home. Only about 3" way up in northern Wisconsin. It took me about 2 hrs to snowblow the driveway back home. I must have shared a shear pin last year on the blower. That's the first one I've snapped since I've had this ariens blower. I didn't know when it happened either. Oh well, I had 2 spares. I'll need to order another just in case.

Not as eventful as yours! Glad your all good! Yeah a house generator is on the list here as well. Flushing lake water for the toilets is a great use of it. You could use it for other things as well, dog water, showers etc. I've got some recent experience with that lol.

Oh yeah, our gas clothes dryer officially died. The motor went. I smelled the funky electric smoke smell when I went down stairs after my wife said the drier wasn't working. She didn't smell that smell and I knew exactly what it was. It also made a weird buzzing/ humming noise when you tried to start it. I repaired the drier a few years ago with a new sensor / switch. This dryer came with the house, and we have owned the house since 2008. Not worth fixing it. I've found a few on FB marketplace. I'll get one this week. No hurry.

Glad you two came through that safe and sound!
And got your power back after a few days. Probably won’t be the only time you lose power this winter. Keep your ideas going for preparation for the next time. I hope not. But. May be sooner than you think.

You're right, I should have one! I despise having to run cords out windows or doors or what have you and then having to roll out a portable hoping that it starts. There is some sort of weather proof connector that mounts to the outside of the house that a genny can plug into. It feeds a chosen 6 or 8 circuit panel that you switch over manually from the main breaker panel. That would run the well, kuuma furnace, fridge, some lights and outlets. That would have been a lot better than nothing at all. :handshake:

I was off on my snow total. I didn't measure. The national weather service did though. 12.5". Only one area in SE Wisconsin got more at 12.7".

Picked it up and it looks like new. He did fire it up but took a few pulls and I thought he said he used it yesterday. I know the fuel smells a little stale so will dump that out before running it. Paddles on order and should be here next week so that puts me in at $100 total for it so fingers crossed I did okay. Plus side the paddles and other parts should fit my S522 as well so that will be a plus.

Spent a hour this evening fixing up the track saw from work. The pivot was all jacked up from being outside and contaminated with cement dust. Works like new now. At least for the time being. IMG_20251130_190749.jpg IMG_20251130_190802.jpg

Wow, that is a lot to go thru. I mean, sure, we know it happens, but it sux when it does. Glad you were prepared enough to get thru it relatively painlessly. Good of you to help your neighbors out with warming and meal too.

Tomorrow we are only supposed to get 4-8" but I'll be charging up my backup batteries as well as placing my LED lights strategically around the house just in case. The summer/fall drought was hard on all the shrubs and trees so who knows what was weakened enough for the first decent snow to take down. Plus, I haven't heard them say whether it will be a dry snow or wet snow - a wet 8" is mighty heavy.

Yes, I did remember that and think of what you went through during "the dark ages".

There are ways to make it easier to find your discs. We shall see what happens depending on the weather.
