It commenced about the same time you posted. Slowly at first but that didn't fool anyone!

    ................Wrong!

I don't know what source of info you are using, but it's not the first time you've been misled on conditions.

At the time you posted this, winds were already howling over 50 mph, snow had already piled up and power had already failed for at least a couple thousand customers!

Better stick to reporting conditions from the "banana belt"! :p  :rofl: :rofl:

    Feels like 12.

What a mess of a storm we had here in the U.P!!!!

Actually, the forecasters nailed it (this time).

It began on tue evening with rain turning to snow. Heavy, wet, moisture laden snow. The kind of stuff that falls so hard you can hear it landing!!

Winds were ridiculous strong. The snow stuck to everything and trees and power lines soon passed there breaking stage.

Power went out early wed morning (pre-dawn) and stayed out for three days. Came back on fri evening/night.

The NC-30 earned it's keep during the outage and kept the house warm.

The total I heard so far was 31.5" but should find out "officially" tomorrow morning. That is, if the radio does a follow up report.

28 cloudy. Rain this afternoon. 72 inside. Started with 3 select red oak sticks, ignited from last evenings coals and the day begins anew.

Over the next 10 days it is predicted we will receive rain, freezing rain, a wintery mix and snow on 7 of those days. Not in that order

Highs of 45 and a low of 8 not on the same day, but that is the temp range over the next 10 days. It's no wonder the weather makes us crazy!:hair: But me? I'm more :coffee::popcorn:

Well, perhaps you live in a different area. Many times what you report and what others report are much different. I look at several sources plus a few friends who still live in the UP. Also, 31.3" were reported in one area but I've yet to heare about that widespread 40" or more that was predicted. Perhaps you should... NO, I'll be nice and eat my bananas on cereal.

Feels like winter out there. -22C/-8F this morning. Oil furnace said no way, so the wood stove is rolling solo with pine.

Thanks Dennis. -20c/-4f outside this morning. I did a reload of doug fir and larch at 8 am this morning to chase the chill away. The furnace had to do some lifting this morning as its hard to heat this big house when the stove is down to coals.

I got up at around four to pee and checked my phone, 6 below zero !!:jaw: That’s pretty darn cold for this early in the season. If’n I knew it would get that cold I would have brought in more honey locust.
I got a mixture of HVBW, elm, hackberry and a few honey locust nuggets near the stove.

18 but wind chill is at 6. There is hardly any wind.

Another 10" today! At least this snow wasn't the wet heavy stuff. We should be past that stage now.

I plowed before Mass and again this afternoon. Got the plow truck stuck again.....really good this time. Finally got it out after 1 1/2 hours effort. Yes, 99 helped-again! These past few days I have been stuck so far more times than in the over 4 years I have lived here.

I also cut down a couple smaller trees that weren't going to recover from being bent over. They would have been in the way for plowing the driveway. One was a red oak.

Tonight low will be in the single digits; I'm sure the wind chill will be below zero before morning.

Marquette, for example, was one of those areas that was over-predicted. I spoke with someone from there wed morning and told them that we had passed the 13" mark that morning. They didn't believe me either since they still had temps above freezing.

As far as the 40" forecast that you had heard.......??

I did hear that very same total on the weather channel before it began snowing tue night. They did make it very clear that it was possible and not a true prediction for Hurley.

If you listen closely to forecasts, it usually says something like "greater amounts possible/expected in snowbelt areas".......
