Cool sign! Why is it elevated off the ground?

My thought was so that the ground temp doesn't affect it.

Thanks. Just something I quickly whipped up last night. Always wondering how much snow we actually get/got. Fixed that problem. Lol.

Okay, you have me there. It is more that I don't like being around a lot of people, and it is even worse around "uncontrolled" circumstances.

Caffeine! Hoping to take part of the day off today and work part of it. Get a few things done outside and get a long, fast walk in with my wife in the afternoon.

A winter storm that began on tue evening steadily worsened over the next couple of days.

The total snowfall that I hear (unofficially) is just over the 31" mark.

Very high winds and heavy wet snow that stuck like concrete caused huge amounts of outages. Trees bent, snapped, leaned, and just fell over. Unfortunately, the power lines did not leave enough room for such considerations and thousands lost power.

I woke up very early wed morning before losing power and made some preps in anticipation of how severe the weather had become. Made sure the phone batteries were fully charged and drew a couple gallons of potable water-which wasn't near enough for what followed.

The power failed before dawn. After daylight, I filled some buckets with lake water since the lake was not iced over. This lake water would be used for "flushing" toilets.

About mid morning, I tried plowing. With all of the trees bent over the driveway, you would have thought it was the tunnel of love! We had to walk up through the deep snow and try shaking the branches to shed some of the snow in order for the trees to regain some of their height so I could plow while driving underneath them.

Our power should have been restored on wed night but wasn't. It ended up getting restored on fri night.

We had our thanksgiving dinner yesterday with only snacks/sandwiches on thur. We invited another couple that were still out of power. They had stopped over on fri afternoon/evening for her to warm up as there were a couple trees over lines at their place yet. They were still out of power as of last night. The fridge and freezers were emptied and food was stored outside on the decks until power was restored.

Thank goodness for LED flashlight/lanterns and just plain old normal candles! Battery powered radio allowed 99 to listen to the football game.

The internet was also knocked out and wasn't restored until sat night..........which wasn't that bad at all. but, it would have been nice to see the black friday ads as we pick up some Christmas gifts during those sales.

It's all behind us now; chalk up another one to experience.

I think there will be a whole house generator in the near future!!! (after winter)

Sorry about the way too long post

Bogie I see you a lot like your cats. Aloof, intelligent and basically prefers to be left alone until you decide you want to interact..
Our home provides me with that peace; long drive surrounded by woods..

People individually are a lot better than groups; having been unintentionally involved in riots, I am nervous in those situations.
Guns N Roses at the Montreal Forum in 80s place was packed; axl waked off .. things got real … quick

Wow, 31"?! We got flurries, and a candy coating here.
Do you have a little portable genny now?
That's why I bought my little inverter genny...it's a fuel sipper, but enough power to keep the Kuuma furnace and maybe a few lights n fans (white noise) on during the night.
