Our gun deer season starts tomorrow at 625am. My plan is to hunt hard Saturday and Sunday then slow it down to afternoons only.
Got my Rem Model 600 in 350 Rem Mag ready with a Ruger 77 Mannlicher in .308 Win for back up.

Our gun deer is only 9 days.

Dang, that sucks. Ours started last Sat and goes till January 3rd. For our county, tomorrow and the next Sat are doe days, and then all doe days from Dec 6th through Jan 3rd.

Only buck I saw yesterday was a small 7 pointer. I had many opportunities to harvest him. He was really getting around. I am about to walk to a different stand in my woods. What are the odds he traipses by again today?

I saw a good buck yesterday am but couldn't get steady for a shot, was hunting from the ground inba little make shift blind in cow pasture. Got down prone on my bag forna sec, but just couldn't get right with the way he was moving. Had safety off twice but didn't let it go. Yall know how it is....got that regret that I didn't shoot or get right for a better shot, but also that glad I didn't take a bad shot and it go bad.

Did get a doe yesterday afternoon. Finally got my 9 year old (10 on Wed) on the 300 blk, hoping to get her a shot soon...

20250520_195220 (1).jpg I took the bowhunting trip of my lifetime this past May and killed this grizzly in Alaska's Brooks Range.

Technically yes. My guide had a .357 revolver but he was about 50 yards behind me. Plus he was taking pictures! The bear was close. If I had flubbed the shot I would have been in real trouble.

Saturday was youth day. My 14yo son was hoping for a nice buck as there have been a few running around. He passed up on 3 spikes before shooting this small doe. He said it came in multiple times and he got tired of looking at it. Haha. He gut it and skinned by himself and broke it down with minimal help from me. We deboned it all and once again he just needed a little guidance. He thinks with 1 or 2 more rounds, he will be able to do it all by himself and I couldn’t be more proud. This little gal yielded about 15-16 pounds of boneless well trimmed meat.
