Came home to 2 piles of logs from a tree service. Here is pile #1 It's mostly Silver Maple but it cuts, splits, and burns fantastic.

Pile #2 with pile #1 in the background. Log delivery 11-25 West pile 5.jpeg This log had some rot in the sap wood, but the center was still solid. Tree guy said it was standing dead oak.

I've come to appreciate silver maple. Splits easy, beautiful wavy contours, drys fast and burns ok as long as you are fine with adding wood more often.

Local connection. I'm very fortunate to have this guy. He has a tree service and does nothing with firewood.

My secret is, don't ever complain about what they bring. Sometimes it's pine, cottonwood, hollowed out, rotten, or has metal in it. I always say "Thank you, this is exactly what I needed." It depends on the tree guy, and the location too.
