Went and got more Black Locust tonight, got a late start and it’s getting dark earlier now. The loads are adding up.
Haha the town was in the neighborhood again, about a mile from the black locust on the same road. Between rain drops and darkness I was able to get away and do some cutting. Mostly red maple but some sugar maple in there also. I saw two different guys cutting maple, one yesterday and one today. None cutting the BL though.
From the road BL can look like cotton wood, and there are cottonwood trees in the area. Didn’t fool me though.
I think we need to go over some wood hoarding rules here. All I have seen in the pictures are a few rounds tossed in the bed. The rules of wood hoarding clearly state that the truck must be full. Full means that every possible space is occupied by wood or wood cutting equipment and that no more wood can be loaded. Nice score! Get on the locust.
All the black locust is gone but some maple is still there. Had some time this morning so I went and got some (red maple). Tough scrounge, about 30’ off the road and an uphill grade. Nice Goldilocks size rounds though.
My neighbor who works for the town told me a few town guys took it for their stacks. I don’t have a problem with that.
Got a bit more of the maple today. It was a nice morning to be outside. Nice size rounds. I was able to halve them with the Fiskars X27.
Those a sweet. Nice and perfect, straight grained. I would love to have nothing but RM like that for my bundle wood.
Stopped by the maple site early this morning. No tools other than gloves. I grabbed what I could carry out without killing myself. Later on I cut it right off my tailgate. The pick of the bucked rounds is missing 6 smaller rounds. Not bad for a half mile from home. I’m hoping to get back with the saw soon.
Looking good there, sir. Nice work. Well done. I saw a Z71 on the side of the truck...that explains the light loads...
