Generally I'll file stuff like this somewhere between the farmer's almanac and the daily horoscopes, but it'll be interesting to see how this winter pans out. One thing's for sure ~ we'll know by the end of it.

I bought my house in the summer of '13 and that winter was...... terrible. I can still remember thinking, while shoveling snow, what did I do.

I kinda learned where I could pile snow and it not be in the way come spring cause the piles where so big. Luckily I now have some snow moving equipment. Fingers crossed it's a repeat. I've waiting for one now that I'm better prepared.

Ground water levels around here are low. So either we'll get a bunch of snow and have a huge melt off come spring or spring is going to be extremely rainy.

Winter 2012-2013 was rough here, as was the following year. We had a blizzard that trapped us at the place we were renting at the time for 3 days. I was not in the preparedness mindset at all back then  I think a lot of us are overdue to get slammed with snow & cold. Last year was fairly cold here but dry. I'm ready for the most part. Back in the summer I filled up a 55 gallon barrel with sand and got a few bags of salt. I still have to get more salt before the rest of the populace panics though. I'm buying a snow blower tomorrow since I 86'd the plow setup on my tractor last winter. A big part of me is hoping this forecast is on point. I could use a few snow days at home with the kids.

I should probably get my original walk behind blower going and maybe I can get rid of it after a snow storm this year. I need to go through the cub cadet tractor and blower. I know it needs new sheer pins. Few things to do before the next storm. Luckily it's supposed to be 60° this weekend. Though it'll be a muddy mess.

I watched part of that video and decided that fellow really likes to talk. There are many forecast out there and perhaps one will be right but I never count on it. I just take it as it comes, but it would be nice to see some decent snowfalls again. It has been a long drought here for snow.

Maybe you should pick up a "new" snowblower! ;) :BrianK:

Hoping its a low snow or small storms Winter rather than a some huge storms that make society panic.
Of course the media doesn't help. Maybe I'll find a way to extend the shelf life of bread and milk and start hoarding them!

You know when the weather people say Blizzard or Ice Storm or other such scary words, the last thing I need is bread or milk or water or any of the other things people hoard in bad weather. If I don't have it, I don't need it. Best time to go to the grocery store, if you need something is during the storm, unless it's a really bad one.

It is a bonus when you are retired and you don't have to go anywhere during inclement weather. I drove in all weather for over 30 years and I'm glad those days are over.

Ive gone to the store during a storm, albeit I small one, and the store is empty in terms of shoppers. Years back I recall going down the bread aisle and it was stripped bare like a flock of vultures were there. I used to listen to the stories of my depression era parents and how they got snowed in.
Worst we ever got snowed in was February 2013 with storm "Nemo" that dumped over 3' of snow where we were. Four days before we got out and didn't kill each other despite being cooped up.

I made it about 20 seconds before I hit the pause on him. He don’t know, and I don’t care.
It’s gonna be what it’s gonna be. I’ll let you all know in the spring how I fared. I know I at least have plenty of dry wood on hand. I’d like to see a good old fashioned winter, but if I don’t, it’ll be ok.
