Like any saw, I'd pick it up if it works.

I have both the 435 and 445. They do what I ask of them.

Looks truly barely used. Seeing canned fuel means it shouldn't have any carburetor boogers. Comes with accessories. I say get it if ya need it. I'm fighting CAD over an old grey Echo saw currently. Don't need it. Sure would like to have it since it's in good shape for it's age.

I have dad’s old 435 here and I used to own a 450. From my experience with those saws, I’d say try and run it in some wood before you buy. They are rather unimpressive in the performance dept.

I wouldn't consider it either, but the saw that's not enough for me might be plenty for someone else. Kinda how I'm fine with mild mods and 'stock' performance where others want more.

Im on both sides of that coin. I love me some ported saw goodness but I have more stock saws than ported. I like how they are unmodified. All vintage saws.

Uh oh! Looks like someone has Husky CAD. :startled:Buy another Stihl and it will go away!!!

JK DH. If its not a pro level saw I'd pass, unless its dirt cheap and you can flip it. Just my 2c.

Once one uses a pro level saw there's no going back.

buZZsaw BRAD i think I do have a little Husky CAD! It’s definitely not a saw that I have any need for, it just looked like a pretty good deal and in great shape. Being it’s not a pro saw I’m going to pass on it.

One of the reasons I mentioned that is because of his recent acquisition of a ported 550xp. 440 is quite the step down. I’d predict buyer’s remorse.

    Good call DK

A friend uses a husky 440 for his SXS/ camp saw. Its been reliable in that role for a few years. He's not one to go crazy with PM on a chainsaw either. I

    I haven’t run or owned a 440.
Back in 2017, the Wife was watching me limb some downed trees to cut for firewood, and said “I can do that “, she did some limbing and enjoyed it, and said that she wanted a saw of Her OWN :yes: so I got her a 445 for Christmas, and she was Very Happy about it

The first time we went out cutting with it, I put a 13” B&C on it, thinking it would be easier for her to keep it out of the dirt. She looked at that little bar, and said Nope, that’s Embarrassing   so I put the 16” on it, and she accepted that

She hasn’t put a lot of throttle time on it, but I have grabbed it several times, and for what it is, it isn’t a bad little saw. I have all the bases covered, so I’m not trying to do to much with it, if I need a bigger saw, I grab one, but overall it’s been a good saw, starts easily and reliably and hasn’t given me any issues so far

When I bought it for her, I didn’t know how much she would actually use it, and the 445 seemed like the best power, weight, size, price balance, and hasn’t been a bad choice, in 2017, the 445 had already been upgraded to 50cc, and was the smallest saw I found with a decomp valve, which I felt was an advantage for her, but that is no longer a feature on the 445.

In hindsight, I probably should’ve stepped up to the 543XP, but I had heard mixed reviews on those, and it was a pretty good step up in price.

I know that this will surprise everyone here, but I did eventually get curious about the 543XP, and picked one up, and I have been very happy with it, again I use it for the stuff it is suited for, and it is a very light, nimble little saw that doesn’t wear me out when I don’t need a larger saw.

I don’t regret the 445, it has its places and uses, but if I could do it over, I would buy her the 543XP instead.
