28. Pretty much have had only evening fires, but house was 61 when I came in from morning hunt, so started fire. Oak boards from pallet mill.
51F and rainy last night so finally fired up the stove with a mix of short-leaf pine, cherry, and tulip poplar.
Again, not as cold. Small fire went out overnight but still 70 in here. Low so far is 36. Got well into 50's yesterday.
First fire of the season. Only 48 out, not that cold at all but there’s been little sun to warm the house and rains coming. I’m burning the punkiest wood I’ve ever burnt. Usually would toss this in the burn pit but it was dry,,,,so why not try it out As expected burns fast with little heat but that’s fine in this weather.
I’m lighting fires in the evening. How many pieces varies. These 24” splits just fit and last very long. Chestnut(white) oak. I have 46/71. Much needed rains are coming.
Gets down to 40 with 19mph winds Inside at 63 First time burning cotton wood. I've got a bunch of it in the stack for this and next year..I know not to expect much outta it. Seems ok so far, only dislike is the smoke from startup stinks
