I'm not sure what zone you are in, but I have a couple hydrangeas trying to flower also. I'm somewhere around zone 7 something depending on which way the wind blows B
Some people in NH reported that their lilacs started blooming after we finally got some rain at the beginning of the month (or the end of last month). My guess is that they were from Manchester over to the coast where they received rain when the rest of the state didn't. Mine didn't even think about it, their leaves just dried up and blew away pretty early. They were bare by the beginning of September and probably even before that, I just didn't pay attention as everything was shutting down from the drought.
Finally had the old crabapple taken out this past weekend. The last time it was really beautiful was 2021. It got some sort of blight/fungus, so byu July of each year all the leaves would get spotted and yellow, then drop. Nothing like a bare tree in the middle of summer. Sad for the birds that used to use that tree as a staging area for the bird seed over at the edge of the property. Squirrels would also scamper up and down the tree. But even in nature trees fall and the wildlife gets used to the change. Also sad for me because even when bare of leaves, it would at least break up the view of the house next door. Blooming pictures are from May of 2021 (the last time it had a really nice bloom) Just hours before it was taken down on Saturday The hole it left for all of us that loved it
That was a pretty tree. We had a nice dogwood that my dad and I planted in our yard over 25 yrs ago, sadly it got the dogwood blight and slowly started dying. We took it down earlier this year.
