Did you end up buying the IS? I see it on your sig along with the progress. If you have both, which do you plan on burning?!? I enjoyed following your beta posts. You and BrianK were a large reason I went with the IS

No, we haven't bought an IS (yet). We are interested in beta testing the newest stove, and think it might work well as a second stove to the PH. I just couldn't bring myself to delete the IS from my signature yet. It was a lot of fun testing last year and sharing the experience, and it is fun this year to read as others get a chance to try the IS. I'm looking forward to some cold weather so you new owners can open that draft and let her burn.

(PH has a small fire tonight, due more to damp weather than to cold. A pile of coals from a third of a full load, 250 degree pipe probe, 350 stove top.)

Approximately how many hours are we talking about here?
2, 3, 6? Is this the wood from around 5-ish this afternoon?

Just rolled out of bed Dave. The pic below is kind of dark but you can see a full bed if coals at 7am this morn. This is a 13 hr burn for a 3/4 load, I didn't pack it tight. The stove top temp was 200 and the stovepipe was almost 100. image.jpg

Nice pic. Thanks for that info.
Can't wait to see how these perform all winter.
    Keep it coming.

Impressive...that was with only 7 or 8 splits for 13 hours? Looks like maybe 20 average sized splits you can run it for 24 hours?

Yeah, 7 or 8 splits in random order gave me 13 hrs. I'm sure if this stove was packed tightly you could get 10 or 11 medium sized splits in it. That days coming...

The IS looks like a shoulder season winner, I'm anxious to see it on the below 10 degree nights.

I agree with you there. I like the idea that setting up the cat to run is fairly simple and that the air damper is sensative enough to make subtle changes
