Can anyone ID this? Have a lot of it in one of our pastures. I thought it was sicklepod, but recently saw something on that plant and that doesn't look like it, unless there are different ones...

Eckie That is Hemp dogbane it is toxic to livestock (Horses also) tough perennial weed it is very invasive apply crossbow at a high rate in the fall you will have to hit it hard a couple of times the only other method is glyphosate on a wick wiper it will take over your pasture !! I fought that in our pasture and hay ground for a couple of years before I got it under control JB

Shhh....don't tell my cows this. They ate the chit out of it and have been fine..... Even ate it when there was plenty of grass to eat instead, not like they didnt have options.

Hmmm... I'm assuming crossbow is foliar...? Asking because right now, almost all of this stuff is only small stems, from the cows eating it and trampling it. Assuming it has to be applied to the leaves to work....

I used to make hay for the wife's horses and it was a real mess in the one field . I think she would have got rid of me (Slowly and Painfully) if anything had happened to the Hay Burners we had to get rid of them when she got back problems now she is around all the time at the house and not at the barn MMMM I do miss the horse now

These horses are pasture ornaments. They used to be ridden, but it's been several years since that happened. Father in law hasn't messed with his, nor has the wife, just dont have time. The wife wants our 9 year old daughter to learn how to ride. I don't want her to...if she likes it then we may have to have a horse around longer (after something happens to these..). I don't like horses, no use for them. Unless all h3ll breaks loose and they're the only means of transportation.

They were my wife's life she had them from 6 years old to 70 plus years !! until @2 years ago when she got on a walker I myself can tell the smell of a horse from 500 yards it smells like decaying 100 dollar bills   but she put up with my hobbies (Which are not any cheaper :wacky:) so I helped her out and making hay was just a excuse to buy tractors and equipment ..
