I remember those days inspecting overhead cranes and hoists in a 40ft JLG.

Hot and super dry here. Haven't had any meaningful rain since the first week of Aug. Currently under a burn ban so I can't even sit out by a fire pit tonight. Farmers started cutting corn a couple weeks ago which is the earliest I can remember. They usually cut silage the first week of Sept...not harvest corn. Bean fields turn into a literal dust storm when they run the combines through them.

Temps in the 90s, not a clod in the sky, and a steady breeze is only making things worse.

They usually do the hay field across the road 4 or 5 times per year. They did it twice this year and it's brown.

I don’t think I cut my “lawn” more than a half dozen times this year.

Me neither - I am hard pressed to think it is even that much, I'm thinking 4 times, 5 times max. Most of those times I only mowed select, low-lying, shady areas that most years I have a hard time getting to because they are too wet. I think the only full mowing I did was early June, once it dried out from the flooding. Since early June, it has been 2-3 weeks between measurable rainfalls and those have come down so fast, in a short amount of time that none soaked in.

I certainly have not gotten much exercise. Last time I mowed the low lying areas was the last day of August and that isn't going to change any time soon looking at the weather outlook.

He just wants attention. We once had a bull who always wanted attention. So I'd stop and scratch his ears and talk to him. He loved it. I miss that old bull. He was never a problem.

Saw a man combining soy beans 2 days ago. I think this is about the earliest I've seen this. But leag drop has happened in many fields so it is now that time of year but no need to bundle up while working out there.
