Shipping a large Elk Mount

    Has anybody here had a large elk mount shipped? I just inherited this from a Montana cousin and it’s up to me to get it 1500 miles to Wisconsin. I have no idea if the antlers are “pinned” or still attached to the skull plate. If they are pinned I could remove them and just use my truck.

    The ones I’ve seen have been pinned or bolted to the head. Likely for the very reason you are experiencing. Travel and even getting it through doorways etc.

    If it’s not pinned or bolted, pay a taxidermist to package and ship it for you or go pick it up and make a quick vacation out of the drive.

    Just gorilla glue that thing to your hood & drive on home. If you don’t think gorilla glue will work try some crazy glue ….


    A new hood will be cheaper than shipping that.

    My deceased Montana cousin took that bull in the Badger Two Medicine area of the Lewis and Clark Nat Forest. About 25 miles straight south of Marias Pass. He bumped him bugling 200 yards from camp as he was walking back at 11 am because he forgot his lunch!
