Is it just super wasteful? Seriously asking. Is there's a better, less expensive way to do it? Because if I have to run a separate chimney/ stovepipe if/ when I put a kuuma add on wood furnace, it will probably go out the basement kinda like that, then up. I think...

Should be 2' higher than the peak of the roof. (short answer)

3'...3' above roof, and 2' higher than anything within 10' horizontally.

It looks like a small diameter PVC pipe running into it, not a wood or pellet stove exhaust. Maybe from am on demand water heater? But then the chimney would be way too long as the gasses are already fairly cool and that length will cause issues (assuming PVC pipe is the correct exhaust). Maybe I'm not seeing things correctly.

If it is a pellet stove, it should either be taller or shorter. If it is a wood stove, it should be taller.

After enlarging the image, I think what you see as a pvc pipe entering the class A is nothing more than a border trim around the area of where the stainless enters the building.

No matter what the pipe serves, it is too low and close to the roof!

That was the one thing that seemed off to me. It was barely over the roof.

I wonder if they only bought so many pipe sections and said to heck with it and put the cap on and called it a day.
