The new tree is upping my ancestor count yet again WW now I have a lot of blood relatives that were in-law only just awhile ago but still have more to go. The royal house of Godwin relocated to Norway about 1066.

Been busy with this summer heat
Got up Thursday in the weeee hours to use the facilities and the water pressure was dismally low.
Head down to the pump shack with flashlight in hand.

    Pump not running....Starter relay buzzing
Discovered the controller circuit breakers had tripped

Disconnected the wires to the well and did an ohm test on the 3 different pairs yellow/black Red/yellow Black/red

    The numbers were all good....
None of the lines showed anything to ground :D
Figured it was likely the start capacitor.....We had a fresh one in the spare parts cabinet.
Swapped that bad boy in after it got light out.

    BINGO
Pump started right up and recharged the tanks

    SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

The thought of having to get a crew in to yank out 800 Feet of pipe and wire just SUCKED
    Capacitor was new in 2018

The book on the pump suggests replacing the start capacitor every three years....Ah well

Then we are just getting over this drama session and the power went off Friday night about 10 pm

We went on a recon and found a wire dangling to the ground..
Called that in....The power company had us back up by 11 pm...
They had a crew on another small outage only 4 miles away and they just tooled on up and took care of things.

Temps been close to 100 F the past few days....

Cooling trend coming starting tomorrow.....Slow cooling until Friday....Then some rain maybe.

The house build was supposed to start 2 months ago, had a problem with the last permit. It's currently raining and it's gonna be a long winter.

New oil tank picked up and starting the cement pad this weekend. Had an HD coupon and saved 10% on the tank, Its 265 gallon granby w/hood(a must for outdoor installs). Wanted the roth, But no one sells local unless your a contractor. Wife insisted on one of these double wall tanks because they much look better than the single wall big ugly black things. So I spent way more than I wanted too.

Ugly black thing didn't need the hood($380), the hurricane tie down kit($250) or a concrete pad($100). Plus the double wall was about $500 more. I looked into a tank shed/hut for the big ugly black thing, But they wanted as much as the extras + some($900). So double wall it is!! All total less pad was just over $2200 for the tank with all the extras. Big ugly black thing would of been around $2000 ish total with leg kit and shed/hut cover. :loco:

Trying to decide if I want to try a dry pour for the cement pad or spend the extra($300) and get a small mixer?? Never done a dry pour, But see some mixed reviews and mainly lower strength, plus easier to chip or crumble. Leaning to getting the mixer. My luck the heavy tank would either crack or crush the dry pour pad!! And I'd only have to do it all over again. :headbang:

Pic for proof! We used the pick up to fetch and the tractor to unload it, So the toys were used too(play). :p

That is a nice looking tank and I don't blame your wife for opting for that one. As far as mixing concrete, I'll bet somewhere local to you rents out the mixers for like $50 (IDK, I'm taking a shot in the dark since I've never rented one). Heck, HD might rent those out.

In preparation for ordering pellets, yesterday I moved 2,400 pounds from the garage into the house (60 bags). That leaves 45 bags in the garage. I would have gotten those too, but my old shoulder blade injury made it known that if I didn't stop then, I'd be regretting it for weeks. I'm also rethinking things, like maybe not moving those 45 bags at all and moving the new tonnage around them.

See, the bags that are already in the garage are in air-tight bags (they are full HWs). Since the garage gets humid, maybe it would be best to leave those in there. HD usually (as in always except that one delivery) send mixed HW/SW and those will have the little breathing holes . But, being a single car garage, with a single car driveway, there isn't much maneuvering room for the pallets. It would probably help if I were more talented with a pallet jack - LOL

If I leave the HW pellets in the garage, I'll need to move them by hand anyway. Those were hand stacked on pallets that are raised on bricks. and are toward the front of the garage. If my reasoning for leaving those 45 bags in the garage is because they are less likely to get humidity infiltration, then they need to be moved toward the back of the garage. Ugh, I'm the master of overthinking things.

Proof of work I did yesterday (there is a strategy for the boxes and stuff - with a last broken-dwon box in front of the pallet, it helps keep cat claws away from the bags.

Just ordered 3 tons from HD so need to figure out what I'm doing fast - LOL

Had a 10% discount code, so that more than paid for the shipping charges. They will deliver on Tuesday. I was going to change it to Friday, but looking at the long term forecast, that is the most likely day for rain, so Tuesday it is.

I almost ordered my 3 tons around the end of July. They had them for $299/ton. Plus the 10% coupon and my $50 perk points would have dropped the price down to $260/ton. Hope to get my order in early next month. But won't have a 10% coupon as I burned through mine with the new tank purchase.

"My three tons" sounds like a tv show. :p

Yes they do, And it exactly $50 to rent it. But I do have 2 other jobs(3 total), So I figured we'd just bit the bullet on the mixer. Plus I've always hated the rush feeling you get when you rent a tool. I work too much like a turtle these days!

The tank sheds were an acceptable looking option, But expensive enough to where the 2 in 1 tank was close to the price. Mainly because the shed offered a containment if the steel tank did leak. One of the other reasons on the 2 in 1 tank was its size. Taller and skinnier than the short but so wide it would take up too much area. This area is where we would also install the mini split components in the future.

Got the other 45 bags transferred from the garage to the basement yesterday. To start with, I had leftover pellets and the top row was just missing 2 bags. Note that for this pallet, each row is 8 bags

All 45 bags loaded. There are no bags behind the 3 on the top. Once it gets about to the 8th row, I have to use the step stool and climb onto the bags to set the back row.

They are on order. No one had them locally. Coming from Wisconsin. Should be here next Friday? I also need to plumb the oil line to the furnace which is coming from Michigan. Should be here Thursday.

Here on interior we can use plumbers strap (1/2 inch stainless roll with 1/2 inch holes every inch) and screw it too rafters.
Had rental in flood zone was I smart enough to strap water tanks… No they fell over and pipes ripped what a mess

Received 3 tons of pellets from HD yesterday. I love how they gave me a 14 hour window for delivery. As it turns out, the guy called me about 8:30 and said he was 5 minutes out.

    upload_2025-9-3_3-5-15.png

The delivery guy was great and shoved 2 of them as far into the garage as he could. The 3rd one I had him leave out a ways so I would have room to maneuver the other two in the garage with the pallet jack.

Good thing I did that as that last one was a bear. A slat had broken on the bottom and was giving me fits to get to move. I had to lift from one side, and break part of it off, then from the other side, and break the rest off. Then it took everything I had to get it moving (my driveway has a few dips. Thought I would have to wait for help from the neighbor, but I got it done. Was super thankful it was that 3rd one and not the first as I wouldn't have had the room to lift from the other side.

The county didn't like something, it had to be re done. Then the head person was on vacation for 2 weeks.

So many rules and regulations, better that is was fixed now and not later into the build.
