Put the L4802 and Catawba grapple to work this morning on a few jobs around the place.
The riprap rock in the ditch had gotten filled in/blocked to where the water was over to the side next to lawn all the way up to the big oak, used the grapple to rake it back and make middle deeper 20250809_075254.jpg
Then we went down to our daughter's place. She had a big Japanese magnolia that had gotten taken over by wisteria.
Used grapple to tear out the vines, roots and limbs.. 20250809_090521.jpg
Time to work on the stump... 20250809_085336.jpg
Took a bit, but finally success... 20250809_090242.jpg
Back to our yard, next to the camper shed. A big 2 stem holly was going to be in the way of a planned lean-to addition.
Had to break several big roots..

    This will become farwood soon.
That tree is close to 70 years old, I remember them being 4-5" dia when I was little.

We had this big pine stump that was in the way while mowing grass above the woodyard. I decided to try it with the L4802 and grapples, did a little damage with the MTL grapple...it's better for brush and picking up logs. Swapped over to the Catawba grapple, got the rotten roots broke off... 20250821_121813.jpg
And then the stump... 20250821_121755.jpg Some of it had fatwood in it...maybe that will get our big burn pile going later... 20250821_121803.jpg
Ready to move a 330-gal tote of red oak to storage... 20250822_114123.jpg

Spent some time piling stumps and brush in the stump dump. It’s almost full, and looks deceiving as it’s much taller than the mini excavator. I’ve piled stumps in that hole for 3 years now, and most of our 10 acres of new field stumps are in there. I’ve got two more stump dumps that have barely anything in them yet, that will change this fall. IMG_6249.jpeg

Wow, that's a huge pile. What a bonfire that would be.

Living in a small town with a small volunteer fire dept, it’s hard to get burn permits. Even if the conditions are right, but there’s not enough volunteers in town, no permits. I tried a few times for brush piles, and then said the heck with it and started piling stumps and brush in the woods. Should make good soil in 20 years or so.

Picked this one up in May, what a game changer. Since I was about 14, I started mowing my neighbors three acres with his B8200. Well I finly got a kubota of my own. It's a LX2620. I thought about an L2502 but I think this fits my needs. 20250825_182502.jpg 20250826_161323~2.jpg 20250810_173956~4.jpg

Please review it so far.............how many hours? It looks right at home between the wood piles!

I'm thinking the lx 2620 or the kioti ck 2620, Probably next year......

So far I'm quite happy with it. I've put a little over 25 hours on it, so half way to it's first initial break-in service at 50 hours.

The only mistake I made was getting the Swift-Tach system, don't! It's problematic and useless, mostly the legs on the loader. I removed all the overly complex crap and put the standard legs on. After doing a little more research that's what everyone's doing. The rest of the system is OK, I don't like the hydraulic lines being on the side of the loader instead of tucked away. So yeah don't get the Swift-Tach system.

Do get the tires fluid filled. Definitely get the third function valve. I also purchased a grapple with it and it's awesome.

I went with the smaller tire option to keep me a little lower to the ground and to give it a little more grunt. I went with R14s they're so much better than the R4s. They are a little harder on the turf, but I don't care. I basically can't get the damm thing stuck.

You really don't have to use the glow plugs at all and until you get probably around freezing, I haven't used the glow plugs once.

A full tank of Diesel got me around 20 hours of run time, though I was keeping the rpm down a lot of the time.

I love the smell of diesel exhaust in the morning!
