I bought one of these. Where do you put the trap? I haven't had any luck putting it at a tunnel entrance. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. We have moles.
The long trails they make in the yard...squash a section down with the side of your boot and set it with the trigger directly over the squashed trail.
I was afraid you would say something like that. We have a mix of clay and rocks that is dried to the consistency of concrete. I have tried opening a section up with a maddox to place the trap but they never come back once I disturb it. The tunnels are a good 6" below the surface, where I suspect the dirt is easier to dig.
I have a beagle that has killed every mole we have. She doesn't even dig for them very much...just waits then then pops them out of the ground like magic.
Ever since our cool new neighbors moved in next door 4 years ago, our mice & mole problem has completely been eliminated. 100%. I used to trap 12-14 mice a year getting into the house and my truck. Ugh. Thanks to this girl... Loretta. She hunts the entire perimeter, 24-7. She's a feral cat and lives (mostly) in our neighbors open garage. I'm not much of a cat guy, so when she first showed up I wasn't happy. But, she wasn't much interested in getting into our garage, etc... just the tasty snacks she loves to hunt over here. In all this time, she's only come near the shop once, and I just watched as she casually walked thru, looking at a few of the old mouse areas inside... then, back out to work. She's even driven the red & gray squirrels out. I'm sold. Get a good huntin cat...
Had a cat back in the day that was a mole assassin. My yards ain't nice enough for me to do much when I see them, which ain't all that often. I got one yard right now about to become 100% creeping charlie. Ah well, it's green at least.
