First try using the splitter in the vertical configuration and if I knew it was going to work this well I would have tried it earlier. It sure is easier on the back. If it weren’t so darned warm I would have split more. Busting up the bigger rounds will give me quite a bit of Fir to mix in the woodshed for Winter 2026-27. Some of the rounds are a bit longer than 16” I usually aim for but I can get 18” pieces in the wood stove if I make small splits out of them. The neighbor says he has more logs to drop off after he gets his excavator fixed. If it’s as good as this load it will make some great fires. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I rarely get small splits out of the naughty pieces. Evergreens grown in yards/open spaces suck. I used to cut sixteens as the small stove 18 inch would be touching the door but the small stove is probably a washing machine by now.
If you can make a little box tube platform to increase the size of base, spinning rounds and splitting vertically is a piece of cake.
Dennis will be glad to hear he has a convert. Now I sit back and await the first comment on your choice of thread title
T.Jeff Veal has the perfect one. The few times I've gone vertical wished I had one. Nice load of wood there Reloader. Hopefully you didn't get sap on your butt!
