I know the area well. My dad grew up on Garden City Dr.

    It's a Stihl RS chain.

You’re Welcome, it has worked wonders for me, unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have helped NYH1

No, because we can tighten them down as tight as we want. They're just as tight when we go to tighten the chain again.

When you took this picture was the chain still warm from being run? A warm chain will grow due to thermal expansion, then as it cools down it tightens back up again on the bar.

That’s quite a bit loose Alex.

Take the clutch cover off and turn the chain tensioner and observe the length of the screw. Is it bent and wobbling at all?
Did you say you are lifting up on the bar tip before tensioning chain and tightening bar nuts?

Not trying to be a jerk, but....we know how to tighten a chain on a chainsaw, that's absolutely not the issue. Out of all the saws we have, this is the only one that has an issue. I'm gonna take it back to the shop that just worked on it. We'll see how it goes.

I know. I didn't mean to imply that was from anyone in particular. Just that we know how to tighten a chain, that's not the issue. This saw is making me shake my head!

If this was a vehicle of some sort and you had taken it to a dealership to get fixed, most customers would be back demanding a refund for the first repair that didn't fix it or for the dealer to actually fix the problem on their dime now.

You asked them to fix a problem and they said they could. I'll bet you paid your bill but they didn't fix your problem. Their problem now.

It’s probably stripped threads in the tensioner.

I am unfamiliar with Jonsereds. I had one of my Stihls do the same thing, it would snug up then the loosen up. It had just enough threads to snug up but under load it would slip.

Hopefully you get it fixed up & your service center will stand by their work.

Sounds like you’ve tried most everything. Seems like something is out of spec or worn out that looks okay visually. Sounds like either or both the studs/nuts or tensioner is being mischievous. May not hurt to replace them and see if it helps. I’ve had some studs that have given me trouble in the past like your having, but you could see they were buggered up some.

Wierd question have you tried a different bar and chain to see if it could be that before taking it to the shop?

I am interested in what you find to have caused this issue.

Yeah, we're gonna take it back and have look at it again. They're really good, they could've overlooked something. We'll see.

    Appreciate all the replies, NYH1.
