Can't make out what saw you're using there, is that a 359? When I cut into the SBH, it was like the saw wasn't in any wood. Then the smaller ash was just way too far gone for me to consider. But.. we got a load so it's all good. That looked like a big ole mess. Glad ya got it down the way you wanted. All kinds of leaners in that tractor pic. I'll have to visit your tube and see if you video'd it.
Yes, just a lightly modded 359 with a 24, muffler mod, base gasket delete, good runner. This one had a good bit of solid wood yet(surprising), but a good bit that was punky and got left in the woods. No videos, too sketchy and needed my boy to run the skidding winch, then I was a sweaty mess...
Same experience here. If trees overhang the house or if they are messy trees like oaks the small bits will accumulate and clog things up.
The oak around here may be punky in the center. I just use the splitter to get rid of it. I'm not exactly picky though. I think those rounds look excellent. Nice job!
While mine is not big or scary, if your doing a back cut and see blood and flesh in chips it will Mouse nest in fresh dropped maple
Stopped saw, chaps were ok, I wasn’t bleeding. Where’s the blood coming from.. I see red blood covered saw chips. Checked again
G Glad that’s a real thing. When I saw the picture I figured it was probably something a “tree hugger” posted somewhere to show how trees feel and bleed from all the bad people cutting them down.
We had a low of 56 last night so I went over this morning and started splitting the pile. Quit just shy of finishing.
Nice looking pile of splits. Reminds me I have some splitting and stacking to do also. Several days in the 90's ahead so it won't happen soon! Beside the heat, My energy and drive have seem to have deserted me lately!
Dad showed signs of being tired so I threw in the towel. He’s less than a month from getting vein bypass surgery on his leg(s). Didn’t want to push on, and I was sweating. I’ve been the same way Russ. Being I have 23 cords s/s, I really don’t need to work on firewood when it’s hot out.
Finished splitting this tree today. Just as I was stacking the last few pieces it started to rain on me. Barely enough time to unroll the tarps. Nice little jag of wood. This will be ‘26/‘27 heat for them.
