Hey, finally got some loaded truck pictures... Load of red oak cut from 1 yr old logs. This load went to a guy that said he wanted some dry dry wood...... It was stacked in a shed at the shop about 8-10 yrs ago.... Mix of tulip poplar, oak and maple. It will be burned in a fire pit at a rehab place. Pieces are about 24-25" long
Hauled another trailer load home today. It was WAY too hot to work, but 3 of us got about a cord dragged out of the woods, cut and loaded on the trailer. My head is still hurting, and I know we should have stayed home.
A couple of years ago, I experienced what probably should be called an episode. Was not pleasant and could not function correctly. Sat on edge of truck for about 15-30 minutes which seemed to help then wrapped up the job without finishing it. Called and made an appointment with Dr's office. They attributed it to being severely de-hydrated; remedied by an IV. Yeah, slowed down and drink less coffee, way less soda since then.
I used to concrete when I was younger. Had no idea what heat stroke was. I was working as hard as I could to provide for my family and got heat stroke almost every day for a month. Not just “I’m hot”, I’m talking about fall down, can’t walk, can’t function, get dragged to the truck and turn on the a/c and dunk your head in a bucket of water. They would literally carry me to the truck and turn on the air. That was it. And I had to finish the day. Every day. It was 100° out and they never mentioned heat stroke or sent us home. We were pouring concrete and working inside steel bins/silos. I can’t really take heat anymore.
You should be thankful that your co-workers took the time to place you in a truck with AC. Concrete workers building the hoover dam weren't so lucky.......... (Before anyone has a kitten, bodies entombed in hoover dam is just a myth)
Roof for my inventory ~ cheapskate style It's only 90% done (I never finished buying rolled roofing for it, and instead put a large tarp over the bulk of the OSB )
A neighbor about 3 blocks away had an oak tree fall down. They already cut the branches off. I went over Saturday, cut the main trunk into 18" pieces loaded the trailer and hauled it home. Oh and their next-door neighbor had a few pieces of oak and maple they asked if I wanted. I cut that up too. Too hot out to split it but I wanted the trailer empty so I stacked it as is on a pallet. I can get nearly unlimited supply of pallets from work. We give them away. If anyone from the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area ever sees this thread and wants pallets just ask me.
