Must have been when the office got darker! Thought it was a passing cloud, not a giant on a boat blocking the sun!

    Hunting/Fishing Fool

Kiddo is done with the box of a makeup/finger nail polish box she got as a gift years ago. It's covered in irredescent reflective shiney material. About the size of an old lunch box. He's stoked to keep fishing lures in it

1st day in a while that it has been cool enough in the morning to open windows and run fans to cool off the house before the heat hits.

Last night I had something weird happen with my mini split system. both heads kicked into dehumidify, and wouldn't quit. Indoor humidity went from the high 60's to 52% by the time I realized what was going on. Shut both off and let them sit for 5 minutes or so, started back up and they ran as they should. Indoor humidity is back at 67%.

Checked my solar app and, dang, does that dehumidify suck some juice down compared to normal (orange bars). I mean, some rise is normal, but you can see shortly before 6pm it went into overdrive. before I shut it down and let it reset itself.

May be using the dehumidify setting in the next day or two, but I want to chose when and how long, not have it decide for me. #firstworldproblems :D

Gave my official retirement notice to the company yesterday. I had told my boss last Friday, but I needed to nail some stuff down before my formal submission to the company.

One of those things is using the 42 days of PTO that I still have left (we can accrue up to 400 hours and we have 9 hour days). My actual last day, when I have to work and turn in all my electronics and badge is 1/7/2026 (exactly 7 years). But, I am taking PTO from 11/20/25 thru 1/6/2026 (plus about 10 days scattered here and there before Thanksgiving).

Money and speed. Around here is it tough to find shops that will do "difficult" work like replace a suspension component. I need to replace my rear coil springs in the Sequoia and my favorite shop won't do it. The other shop says my 2008 is too old to work on. I'll have to do it myself. I guess the easy work is too plentiful to bother with the harder work. For context, there is no rust out here.

That's a lot of energy! Good thing you caught it. Has it done this before?

Do they not dehumidify the house while running in normal cooling mode? I don't know know how you can pass warm humid air over a cool coil without dehumidifying?
Is it dehumidifying, or deicing itself?

And why would you want the house in the mid-upper 60s humidity? That's a good recipe for mold/mildew growth.

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I hope the company keeps you on their health insurance while you are using your PTO. I did the same thing when I retired years ago. Last day of work was about 4 months before the last day of pay status.
