Lounging poolside with a good cigar. Picnic was lots of fun. Bonfire and smokes in a little bit. 20250705_192538.jpg

Fireworks weren't much here this year. July 3 was rained out with pretty bad thunderstorms rolling thru and the 4th was quiet until about 9PM. Short bursts from the usual characters and it was all over by 9:15 or so. No one spent much money on them this year. Unless they savd them for tonight. We'll see.
We used to have a dog we had to give sedatives to.

Local fireworks are always on Saturday night, they put on a darn good show too!
Verizon claims based on cell phone traffic that we go from 8500 to north of 100,000 people in town for the show!

Oh gee whiz. I had to turn around to go back after the bathing suit. Then time ran out. Maybe next year.

Yeah, those mountain dogs know not to go in the water. They'll do whatever to keep 2 and 4 legged friends out of the water. The reason is that all those mountain dogs are used to lakes being very cold and that hypothermia can set in quickly.

Just like Cur dogs don't like to go into bodies of water because where they are from, there's usually alligators in the water.

Went down to dad's house for the Forth where safe and sane fireworks are legal. This year they stepped up penalties for illegal fireworks and even had drones out taking pictures. The result, no change. Check out this pic of our safe and sane fireworks with illegal fireworks in the background.

We bought a box of peaches last week and today we are making a batch of cantaloupe/peach conserve. That is an old recipe I got from my grandmother. Glad it isn't really hot today because that conserve takes a long time to cook down.

So we are trying to build a fire rated shaft wall with 3 layers of drywall in this area. Anyone care to stop and help out? 20250707_095027.jpg

There is bear poop in my driveway, so they don't do it in the woods 100% of the time.

Coolest day in recent memory...only 75 right now, breezy and cloudy. The Amish crew is out pouring concrete and prepping for putting up siding. They say they'll be done tomorrow.

After that the work starts for me with wiring, heater, and new sheeting in the shop.

It's beautiful here too. 73 and very comfortable dew point. I'm ok if this lasts till I'm dead. Hopefully another 40 years, not in the next bit. Lol

Well, while it can get down right miserable with both high temps and humidity, the spring, fall and relatively mild winters make up for it…….at least a little bit!!

Aw, thanks Dave, I didn't go out, turned up the volume on the tv lol. It was too cold for me anyway. I'm going to very blunt with the Uncle next time and take the teen boy aside and tell him no touching kiddo anymore.
We have a land monger here buying up lot after lot. He put on a professional fireworks show last year (?), I can't even guess how much that cost? $30K-$50K? Turns out yooperdave , some City or County or State dept told him he could not do that again. Mixed feelings, if we're going to put up with the partiers and traffic the free fireworks show made it a bit better. Thankfully the rest of the weekend has been pretty quiet.

Could've been worse and they could've pooped in your vehicle. They are good at opening doors.
