Question. What do you all use for a jack for the camper? My floor jack doesn’t fit under the leaf springs. Is it okay to connect next to leaf spring on the axle? It’s a solid axle with a drop down for the drums and hubs assembly. Just found this while getting the tire and rims off for replacement.

Maiden Voyage… To Watkins State Park. About 1 hour away…. Lots of wind today, so the ride up was kinda of fun. Amazing how much wind it catches… Getting settled down for the evening. AC is cooling off the rig and looks like probably have a issue with refrigerator will know more later on.

As long as the a/c keeps working you will be good, no a/c this weekend in one of those aluminum boxes would be tough.

Second trip out… Went to Wallace State Park…Saturday morning had some rather good storms roll through. Nice little state park. Had a smallish lake, looked like a very Kayak friendly lake. Just chilled and relaxed…. Time and rain kept me from taking any of my wood… so bought a few bundles there…. But I’m pretty certain that it wasn’t really dry or it was the sawmill cut off…but it was less than spectacular in burn

We joke that we eat better camping than we do at home sometimes, because we actually take the time to cook. The chow all looks good!

Buying campground firewood is an exercise in frustration. It's never dry, there's no kindling, but they don't want you bringing your own. Then there's always somebody on the camping forums complaining about smokey campfires. Well, I wonder why??? :hair:

Looks like you ate very well despite the poor burning firewood. Next time pack a moisture meter! :D

When I used to go camping (30 years ago) the wood at the campgrounds was almost guaranteed to be wet, green. and way too big.

One of my favorite things to do when we go camping is scrounge for wood of course. One time many years ago my brother and I used campground firewood. It was slab wood from a mill and Eastern white pine. Didn't burn worth anything. Ive brought some with us when weve gone in recent years and scrounged the rest.

The first time her and I went camping in 2007 we had a major downpour at the campground the first night we were there. I had "covered" the fire with pallet scraps to keep it from being doused. We were the only ones with with a fire going that night after the rain had ended. :coldfire:Everyone else was sending smoke signals. Being a former girl scout leader for years she said I won her heart that night by doing that.

On our trip last year, we didn't burn any firewood and one of the reasons were all the smoky campfires in the campgrounds we were in. It was especially annoying when the fires were lit upwind of our unit and then left burning/smoldering after the people had gone inside.

campinspecter decided to take a break from burning firewood for the length of our trip.
