I saw an Ad on FBM for some Bradford pear wood that these people wanted gone so I loaded up the truck and the little brother and went and found this super easy scrounge right at the end of the driveway so easy loading. I’ve never burnt Bradford pear so I’m not sure what to expect at all but it will be getting CSS soon. Any information y’all have on it is appreciated!

It's a strange wood, very brittle. It shatters more than it splits. As far as burning goes, I found it to be kind of unremarkable. Not bad, not great, maybe a hair better than middle of the road. No sweet aroma like when you burn apple. I would let it dry for at least a couple summers before burning it.

I've only burned a little and found it ok. Far less heat than apple.

As Eric stated it chips more than splits. Try aiming for the center and spilt rounds as though its a pizza and they should come out okay, at least in my limited experience with it.

Great score BTW. Easier is gooder in my book!

I burned a little bit this past winter. Agree with others…pretty unremarkable…not great, but not terrible. Smelled awesome when I cut and split it…but again, pretty unremarkable when burned.

As far as burn times compared to apple how does it compare? I have a bunch of apple and I love it but it seems to burn super quick?

My experience was it was about the same as apple. Maybe doesn’t hold coals quite as long. Overall I wasn’t too impressed with apple during really cold weather. Just filled the stove with coals and didn’t put off much heat. Had to bring up a couple of wheelbarrow loads of pine to keep the coals burned out. I felt like the pear did a better job heating during the cold weather.
