I've had this beautiful Doug Fir leaning over my house ever since I bought it 20 years ago. It's a little over 25" DBH, plenty tall and within 5' of the eaves.

Homeowner's insurance being what it is, I knew that tree needed to go.
Now any sane person would have hired an arborist to have it taken down.
Nobody ever accused me of being sane.

The faller's name is Doug. He's in his 80's and quite deaf. He is also highly skilled.
I was still working on my first cup of coffee when he arrived at 7:00 am.
I scarcely had time to get the camera set up.
In under 5 minutes he placed it exactly where I'd requested.

When he was done with that, he felled a very large (3-1/2' at the butt) dying white fir on my neighbor's property.

Then four more trees on my property.

    He was gone by 8:30.

Now I have several weeks of limbing, brushing, bucking and splitting.
I'll be SWA again before you know it.

That was so enjoyable to watch. So cool to see older folks who are still active & haven’t lost their touch! It gives me hope!:)

Old fallers never die; they just start bucking around.

He barely broke a sweat. There is nothing like watching someone who is truly skilled do their work.

I would have been sweating bullets just from my nerves if I was the one felling it!

The video really shows the lean towards the house. I would have been puckering watching him do that near my house.
You could tell during his face cut, the moment he realized that he had it lined up perfectly.
Cool to watch. Thanks for sharing.
