Just wanting to see some pics of your splitter set up and ready to work.

I’ve run a preowned Yard Machine 25 ton splitter for several years and it has done its job well.

I recently purchased a preowned Champion 27 ton splitter but I’ve yet to use it. I’m hoping it will speed things up a bit with an 11 second cycle time vs the 16 second cycle of the Yard Machine.

Last fall I realized my shoulders wouldn't last if I kept splitting 8 cords a year by hand. So I bought a used but well-kept 22-ton Dirty Hands splitter. It's done all I've asked of it, including splitting some big gnarly hickory rounds that I couldn't begin to split by hand. I moved the factory "shelf" to the opposite side, and built a bigger solid one over the motor and tank fill/vent to protect them. I usually load onto the small factory side, then split onto the larger shelf, which I position towards the stack. It works out well that way.

Luckily I have a couple of able-bodied grandsons close enough to me that I can "borrow" them sometimes. They work for snacks and Nana's gravy biscuits in the morning!

There's a 2x2' table on the other side of the splitter. If you look close you can see it. So that goes toward the unsplit rounds. They go on the table to get split and slips go behind/beside me, on the trailer to get stacked.

I like that! I assume the rotor has a hub and bearings, so the lift will swivel? Very creative!

Still running my now 15 y/o Homelite 5-ton electric. The rounded corners of the top of the beam have worn to sharp edges, but it continues to split rounds bigger than I should be handling.

I've been using my Husky 10 horse 34T splitter for probably 10 years now. Just last year swapped out the pump for a new one.

Performance Built 27 ton. Box store special that's four years old. Sometimes I'll fill a feed/litter bag with shards while splitting. IMG_7426.JPG I've looked into getting a Super split flywheel splitter.

I bought a Wolfe Ridge 28 Pro a couple of years back w/a 4 and 6 way wedge. I'm almost 63 now and realized I may not be able to swing that maul much longer. Really like it!

Have virtually the exact same splitter purchased at least 20 years ago and while it may not see the volume yours does it has split for us, two sons and neighbors and keeps on going! Did replace the cylinder for a leak and still have the old one to use for a future project:yes:

Reloader That is an interesting use of “E Track” and decking brackets, never seen that before.

Do you have any trouble with dirt and debris plugging up your E Track mounted horizontal like that?

Everything is so shiny and purty, have you used it enough yet to know?

Would you ever guess that I’ve been a truck driver for over 37 years? ;)

I’m always finding new accessories to use with the E Track

As far as Splitters go, we have a 27 ton DHT, that we bought new in 2016, it’s been a Reliable unit for us, the Kohler engine in it, IMOis every bit as good as a Honda

We split 8-10 cords a year. It can sit a couple months, it lives under a tarp, and honestly doesn’t get the plug and oil changed as often as it should, and almost always starts on the first pull
If it doesn’t start on the second pull, I’m checking the on/off switch, fuel valve and fuel level, probably my fault not the splitter’s that it hasn’t started in the first two pulls

We have a Champion generator, that so long as I keep non-ethanol fuel in it, it starts just as easily, I would have to guess, but I have had the Champion Generator at least 15 to maybe 20 years

I would buy either unit, or brand again, but DHT unfortunately is no longer in business, but I think that I have seen new Champion units fairly recently

I haven’t had the trailer long enough to have any issues with the e-track. It seems to come in handy when tying things down.

In my pics of the enclosed trailer, the bottom row of E Track is mainly for tying down, wheeled things, like the splitter. I put it on the walls rather than the floor to keep debris out, and keep the floor flush at the wall. I did have to put it about 2” inches above the floor, when at first thought, I planned on it being right at floor level, but my DeWalt drill and small impact wouldn’t drill/drive square with the E Track that low
