Church choir member wanted to know if I wanted any or all of the red oak. I said I will be right there. Enjoy the pics. :axe::stacker::campfire:

Not funny but that is exactly what this is. The tree itself is massive

The rest of it should probably come down as well. That[s a lot of damage.
There's probably a ton of seedlings sprouting in the lawn around it. Pick one to replace it. Just stop running over it with the lawn mower.

Nice wood, even the small branches, I’m a little jealous I don’t get those anymore :) I’m cutting all dead oaks, the branches are far enough gone they aren’t worth the effort. A little horizontal noodling, thought I was the only one :) Any word on the rest of the tree?

Horizontal noodling - you don't think the log/round was rolled after the 1st noodling?

Maybe. Not the way I do it. Figure why bother rolling when the saw flips easier ;) And you don’t get noodles clogging up at ground level. You do need heavy rounds that won’t roll but then again that’s why you’re noodling.

Horizantal noodling was an idea of his a few years back. IINM he posted a thread about it. I've tried it a few times, but gets awkward holding a saw that way.

You do want sharp dogs, sharp chain and horsepower, that’s for sure. :) Once the bar is buried the saw holds itself. Probably comes down to me moving like a 90 year old man. When I noodle I’m usually on my knees thanks to the Walmart spine. It’s easier for me to do some horizontal than get back up and roll a round.
Sometimes I try to get the horizontal down lower, make thirds instead of quarters. Less cutting that way.

I prefer a one knee stance. Saves the back and I can still move a bit.
