I was looking into purching a preowned 34 ton Champion log splitter but after some studying on it I decided to go with a preowned 27 ton Champion splitter.

The wood I split is normally easy splitting stuff compared to what I’ve seen folks split back East.
Alder usually pops open just an inch or two after the wedge contacts it.

The 11 second cycle time also caught my eye.

I do feel pretty good to pick up this splitter for $850 as it is slightly used and less than a year old.

Hey Reloader you did well. Those 27 ton's have a good reputation. Aside from the cycle speed there is the mass of the unit. The higher the tonnage, the harder they are to wrestle and move around. Also I have a buddy with a slightly smaller machine than my 35 T that can get through a 36" gate (you have to kind of kitty corner and pivot through but it does go!) and I can't. Wish you the best with your new toy!

Nice! Before I found mine, I borrowed a 22T and it did everything I asked of it. I think you did well.

Nice looking splitter. Cant blame you there. Why pay more for something you don't need.

Wanna see pics of it in action soon! :axe:

Is Champion one of the better brands of "generic" splitters?

I think they are one of the best big box/farm store splitters, yes.
If for no other reason than they stand behind their warranty, and have great customer service, if needed.
But their stuff works well too, so...

I like the way you tied that down, slick!

I found the fenders on that splitter to be shin busters, took em off.

Ill have to keep an eye out on FBM for a deal on one. I only buy if its a GREAT deal as you know.

The guy I cut for at my Disney thread knows a tree guy that owns three super splitters and doesn't sell much wood. He was going to ask him about one.

With a two stage pump, tonnage isn't that big a deal. I went from 20 to 30 just to get a more solid built unit.
