I picked up another conveyor, a single chain paddle unit. I like it better than the double chain unit I got last fall. I need to make a base/wheels for it. I saw one online where the wheels pivot and the whole thing slews around the jack. Not sure I need that feature, but would like to hear thoughts on it.

Also, do the bars/deflector chute on the end really catch that much bark debris to be worth it?

Here is a pic of when we took it down to bring it home. The trough is about 9” wide with flared sides above that. It’s a nice unit and I am VERY excited to get it set up.

I work in the sand and gravel industry. We use what is called radial stackers all the time. The tires can pivot to alow it to be moved sideways whether by pushing with a loader or a moter. I have always wondered why fire wood conveyors didnt have that option. Wouldnt be that hard to fabricate if you are building your own.

Some do have that option. Mine doesn’t, wish it did. I’ve been known to pull mine sideways with the atv if necessary.

The Grizzly bars are worth it in my opinion. Much depends on what you plan to do with it. I dump my wood into pens and leave it. The first year I had no bars, wasn’t happy with what I was seeing. The small junk falls straight down into the middle of the pile and stays in the middle. The worst place for small junk that blocks air and holds water.
Anyway my bars are off the splitter not off the conveyor. I just didn’t want to lose any height. I get at least 50% of the scrap. I’d guess they would get more if they were on top of the conveyor where the wood and scrap actually separates for a moment as its falls. I’m happy with what I get anyway.
Oh,,,I have a box wedge which helps push wood over the bars. Without a box wedge I’m not sure how well the splitter would push wood any significant distance
