Heavy rain overnight and showers forecasted today had me unmotivated to cut wood today. Plus the fact I'd be working in mud with wet logs didn't help. Arrived this morning to see the log deck untouched (the tree service had said today was the day for pick up). Cut the ash log first. Been several years since I bucked an ash log unaffected by the EAB. Few and far between here. Then worked the red maple and elm smalls. Couple face cord heaping load. Off to storage to unload. Hurried back as some sprinkles started. Continued working in an on and off light rain to get another heaping load. All cut with a 14" bar on the 241. Off to unload. Between fresh cut elm and pin oak there was an interesting aroma emulating from the wood yard. Some BL on the bottom in the first pic from a prior cut. What I left behind. Big elm and gnarly logs. Have to go back once logs are removed to clean up as promised to tree service and homeowner. Two heaping loads moved in one day is rare for me. Not too sore tonight luckily.
Good work Brad! I've done quite a few 2 or 3 load days myself. It's definitely a lot of work, but there's reasons you have to. The three load days are rough.
Yeah it all depends on the priority scale and my availability to get to it. I probably could've done a third load had I got there earlier, but after going through the pile there wasn't much more I wanted after the second load was topped off. I know I could hold the elm til the bark falls off and split but with my limited room, they will get processed within a month or so.
I allow elm. Haven’t come across any that even comes close to gum when it comes to splitting. I know others have but I guess I’ve been lucky.
I took the elm from this score as it was smaller diameter. Should split a little better. Wont know until I try. My last score of elm was rough!
Drove by the score on the way home and what was left had been removed. If I have time I'll clean up the mess tomorrow. All in all very pleased with what the score yielded.

Its still holding on...barely. Has trouble latching and only on left side. I was hoping it'd last the life of the truck, but built Ford tough and still going strong.
