This is at a local auction and I'm wondering if it's worth getting. On a Ingersoll compressor with pump problems.
A lot of those engines that are driving compressors, power washers and such have tapered crankshafts which makes it very difficult to use on other applications.
Depends what series/model it is...they all have their el cheapo line, and then the better stuff, lastly commercial...usually at least the 3 levels.
Making a shaft adapter is pretty straightforward, especially if you have the female part. Or ....a drawing. This engine and again I forgot to put diesel in the title is belt driving a t-30 Ingersoll compressor.
Highly doubt it, probably a contract order. Don't know much about them but it could be a fun toy. Garden tractor, splitter, generator ect.
The few single cylinder diesels I've been around were kinda rattle traps, but I think the Amish use some for power units...no idea on brand/model.
I have a couple of "arrow board" diesel Deutz singles somewhere in the back building. Remember when they had generators???? Or am I dating myself
Don't know if I've seen a Deutz genny or not...its certainly possible at one of the Amish equipment auctions around here, I just didn't pay it much attention maybe. You aren't that much older than me I'd guess...
It seems to me a single cylinder diesel would probably only be "happy" on a continuous max load application like a driving a pump or generator. I might be wrong....
Actually I spoke somewhat incorrectly. The engines didn't have anything on the flywheel side but had a old GM style alternator driven by the fan belt that charged the batteries that flashed the arrow directing traffic.
