So, last week i managed to get the engine mount snagged on an unmovable object. The I beam tore away, splitting the hydraulic tank. The channel bar that the I beam, and cylinder is mounted to was removed and repaired, thanks to a neighbor, i need to pick up a new trailer hitch tomorrow.

Today, the new tank arrived late afternoon in a box suitable to place incorrigible grandchildren- let me know-. Unboxed and waiting on my recently fabricated outdoor work table with the frame out wood chipper was bolted to for shipping.

next will be to tractor down to the crash site and haul the remaining parts and then piecemeal the engine, pump, and I beam/cylinder assembly.

this unit is double in price from when it was bought. It was labelled as Forrest King at Menard’s , but a company called Foard’s must be the main importer that builds and labels them for wholesalers. Friendly people when i called to check on the status of shipping.

will update as the reassembly proceeds.

Wow, that's a shame! I've worried about doing something like that too - those things don't have much ground clearance. Glad you're patching her back up!

May I inquire as to how bad they stabbed you for the new assembly?

brenndatomu Jeffrey Svoboda , The tank cost a little over 500, which is why i mentioned the price increase for a new unit.
I had already changed the engine with a Predator. Its pretty good, but you have to disable the low oil pressure cutoff.

i was pulling it with my Kawi Mule. Earlier i had ran i to something at the engine mount causing it to bend down, giving it even less clearance. I could see that it twisted the hydraulic tank. This next hit cause the catastrophic failure.

I was helping my neighbor re belt his mower and replace the deck. Still have a challenge with the drive belt.

only thing accomplished today was putting a new trailer coupler on the repaired “tongue weldment “ - the steel beam that the all the major assemblies are bolted to. Thunderstorms came in. After a beautiful day.

After the rain and trivial tasks, i got down and hauled the old tank and IBeam /cylinder assemblies to the shop. Removed engine and filter.
For some reason the hitch pin for the I beam mounting bracket will swing back and forth but wont pass through the old bracket. Might borrow a pickle fork from a neighbor.

assembly for the tank completed after some hassle. Greased the wheel bearings before adding them to the new unit .

Once i get the stubborn pin replaced it will be a matter of two bolts , a pin and attach the hydraulic lines , and should return to business

Probably has grooves worn in it...might need to try to center the holes somewhat to pull the pin out.

Glad to hear you're making progress on the repairs! It sounds like quite the project, but it's great that you have helpful neighbors and a solid plan in place.Good luck with getting everything back in working order!

Success in the reassembly! Even though the Predator engine was flip flopped and bounced, it fire immediately . It was suggested to me to raise the heavy upper assembly and maneuver the lower in regard to matching the upper, lower connection and running the pin through.

all hydraulic lines reconnected, and a trip to Farm Supply for some fluid. Back in bidness. Hope you enjoyed another episode of “How Sourwood Breaks Everything He Touches “
