This hasn’t happened in a long time! This was a fresh expansion of my stacks so the ground sunk a bit helping the fall. Glad it wasn’t too bad to fix. Should be good for another couple years.
Hate when that happens, but easy fix there. I have leaner stack that defied gravity so far by not falling over, so I started pinching pieces off the top last couple weeks to lower it. Has worked so far and will straighten it out when done burning for the season, or when it does fall over.
I just partially re-stacked one of my ranks on Thursday evening. I was surprised the same thing hadn’t happened yet, I knew it wouldn’t be long so I nipped it in the bud.
Mebbe it was seismic activity? Last time I had a stack topple it was due to uneven drying and it fell forward.
My end cribbing was leaning out for a while. I knew it wouldn’t take much and procrastinated too long. Glad it wasn’t a lot of wood. I think it was one of the several very high wind storms we’ve recently had. 2 of my rubber tarps had been partially blown off and they’re held down with small cinder block.
That plastic pallet looks like it is bowing quite a bit. That appears to be the heavy duty kind of plastic pallet too?
It's a light-weight one. Next round of wood to go there will get the metal-reinforced type and shouldn't be an issue. I'll probably give the lights away when that happens. Here it is April/May'23: It's a really wet area of the yard and TBH, that's a good clip of weight! Can't complain, I should have leaned it in a bit vs. going straight up too.
Sure ain’t ocd like some of these beautiful stacks we see but I at least try to keep them upright. When I was hoarding apple wood, toppled stacks were kinda normal.
I had this happen to one of my stacks last week, not too bad, similar to yours. It was a combination of being stacked on sapling,s and the ground thawing and being saturated, down it went.
